Troy. I have sung my entire life in choirs from boys choir all the way to professional. When people wonder why I like Choir music so much, I will now be able to show them this arrangement. Wonderfully done, glorious music, and an excellent arrangement. God Bless.

My father had just his calling to meet our Lord above. I grieve upon his passed away and feel bitterness inside. This song give peace and calmness to my soul. My God bless your talent.

This is the prettiest arrangement of this song that I have ever heard. I shared it on my Facebook timeline.

I’m very curious whose voices are recorded here. I instantly recognize the voices from a piece called “Give Us Some Music” (found only on JW Pepper sadly) which is my all-time favorite choir pieces. Very nice to hear their voices again

what a stunningly beautiful arrangement of this song and the vocalists performing it deserve a real attaboy for their rendering in such a sensitive but powerful way. it moved me to tears...thank you for posting this.

When I found this piece by accident my heart stopped when I first heard the vocals. I can't believe I can't find this piece anyway to buy. I can't stop listening to it. This would make a beautiful piece to have in the in the selections for Solo and Ensemble for large group. Beautiful piece I love it and I can't wait to hear what you do next.

It took me to the middle of the song to realize this was the lyrical passage in one of my All County Orchestra pieces, Finlandia! Beautiful!

One of my favorite hymns since first hearing it at Harding University in 1979. This arrangement is breathtaking and beautifully sung as well.

Alan: This is a BEAUTIFUL arrangement! I plan on having my Concordia Sacrae Singers Choral Ensemble perform this on an all gorgeous hymn arrangement concert in Tampa, Florida next Spring. We will also likely record it professionally the following day of our concert. Thank You for writing this! It's excellent!

Wow. I didn't know that Sibelius was using a hymn in Finladia. I haven't known this specific song before, so hearing it now adds context to Finlandia that makes it even better.

Interesting variation on the traditional words. Beautifully arranged and performed!

This was simple, yet so touching and powerful.

This melody begs harmony and yet it is SO difficult to do it. The lyrics quite literally describe a person in the midst of being tortured to death with nothing but agony in the present and nothing to look forward to but whatever death will bring. We don't want the song to be "pretty" but it must be beautiful or else it might be maudlin... what to do? Your arrangement has accomplished it. The performance is no small thing either because the vowels are perfectly unified and the timbre could be one vocalist. Thanks.

I'm awfully surprised to see there is not a slight mention of the composer of this masterpiece, neither on YouTube presentation, nor on the score. Incredible !!
For your information the composer is : Jean Sibelius (1865-1957)

Hi Alan
I would love to see this arrangement and setting put to a brass ensemble/band or wind ensemble. Well done!
