Fun fact: Subnautica is an accidental horror game. It was originally supposed to be much more peaceful but test players kept getting unsettled because the ocean is a scary place by default that lets your imagination run wild in all the best and worst ways.

OT's frantic screams of "Swim!! SWIIIM!!" when he was about to drown had me cracking up

Honestly, being wholesome and kind on a public platform should be average. But it’s not. That’s why you are appreciated so much. Thank you.

OT is so brave! This game is terrifying and he just swims up to sea monsters and scans them like it is nothing! And that message at the end OMG!

OT’s way of playing this game is so golden retriever puppy and it’s making me incredibly stressed watching him casually walk into some of the most dangerous areas of the game

I only caught the last half of the live stream, so Imma just sit here collecting all the non-spoiler game stuff I wanna say, and if you haven't been told or figured it out by end of stream, it shall go here:

1) Read the info in the far right tab of your PDA. It has access to detailed scan information, scavenged PDA data, and so on. Some of it is just cool flavor lore, like the biology of boom-boom fish or the social politics of the Aurora crew. Some is mini-lore that can be used to figure mechanical stuff out, such as where to find specific materials or uses for stuff besides fabricator recipes. And some is really important lore that you either need to know to progress the plot, or will at least make your game experience more impactful as you learn about the universe you are in and your specific situation.

Folks reminded you of this with the life pod wreck survivor logs close to the end, but I still highly recommend checking everything in that section. :) Perhaps spend the first part of your next stream getting caught up? Eh, eh? **wink wink**

2) Stalkers like to play with metal salvage, as you have noticed. This is useful to keep in mind. If you take salvage that is in close proximity to a stalker -- let alone one they are actively playing with -- they will get aggressive faster. If you drop salvage when a stalker is chasing you, it may leave you alone to play with it (I like to carry one salvage around specifically for such escapes). Actually, I think nearly every living thing in this world has unique behaviors or abilities that can be used to your advantage.

3) You can use habitat tube... tunnel... passageway... things, for a tiny base before you unlock the multipurpose room. You will still need to power it, but that's really easy in the shallows. Solar panels, ftw!

4) Don't collect much more than you need. Inventory space is a precious commodity here. I mean that's pretty standard for all games that have any kind of limited inventory space, but it's really easy to scan a bunch of titanium from wreckage or get excited about all the silver you're finding, forget it doesn't stack, and end up dropping it to make more space for something else anyway. And this game has an unfortunate tendency to glitch dropped items into the landscape where you can't retrieve them later :( Best to leave stuff where you can find it later.

5) Related to #4, your habitat builder can deconstruct indoor lockers and storage containers to return the titanium in a pinch. Outdoor lockers cannot be deconstructed. There is a lot of titanium around, but it's also a major ingredient in nearly every vital recipe. Always mind your building materials ;)

6) Don't look at the ocean from high up, or at dry land from far away. It looks disgusting. The devs clearly sacrificed distant graphics in favor of making the water translucency *chef's kiss* XD

Few basics for you OT, first of all if you don’t discover this later in the video than the rocks with material come in different variants and give you different materials and you can scan them to see which materials they can give you. Secondly everything you scan has information about it in the databank section of your PDA, I highly advise reading the information

I remember at the end of one of his videos, there was a clip of him playing this game. He was constructing the Cyclops submarine and died when it fell on him.

Oh this is insane! Subnautica is one of my favorite games (despite having thalosophobia) and another youtuber I watch just started his first playthrough as well!

Hey OT, just dropping in to say that yes you are a very normal guy with flaws and faults. But that doesn't mean you don't deserve credit for the community you have built and the people that in turn have helped either learn more about themselves or accept themselves more. Those people also did a ton of work but you made it infinitely easier and more comfortable for them and that deserves credit so shush your food hole and take the dang compliments >:( (p.s. not actually mad in case anyone was confused)

I love how at about the 2 hour mark OT becomes obsessed with making everyone feel old

OT: "I need scary stuff to react too!"
Also OT: _[Playing Subnautica]_
😅😅😅

But seriously, this is one of my favorite games, and it's always a joy to see someone embarking on that journey of discovery anew. And it's only _sometimes_ completely terrifying!

Do make sure to listen to audiologs when you find them, they add a lot of depth to the worldbuilding. Oh, and you can build a starter base without the multipurpose room. The tube sections work just fine for some lockers next to a fabricator, which is a lot easier than having to store all your stuff outside the lifepod! Plus when you do find the battery charger it can go in there as well.

So glad I made it for the stream today. It was nice to have this easygoing content since I’m in an insomnia phase. OT really has such a wholesome community. And I ❤️ the new emotes and the “flex fund”. As always, all hail !
