Really interesting and came here because i specifically wanted to know how cam stabilization works. Not so much for the dslr, but for a helmet bullet cam which for some reason manufacturers just haven't developed. Maybe simply because of the cylindrical shape i guess

Who can tell me should or should not sensor with image stabilization technology be locked in place while camera is off? In my camera it doesn't stay locked while camera is off. Is it normal or is it broken somehow? Yes, I'm new to sensor stab world =)

One thing that some dslr users don't understand is that in-body (sensor) stabilization is not a good fit for a DSLR because it does not stabilize the image you see in the viewfinder. Much of stabilization's value comes from making the viewfinder stable and easy to see through for checking focus etc. Honeywell uses (or used) in-body in their DSLR's and it does stabilize all lenses - but never the viewfinder. Sensor and software stabilization are best used for cameras with electronic viewfinders - not DSLR's.
