Hey Tom! after 3 Youth Rating tinkering, and seeing that apparently, its clubs and league reputation that matters most, I would love to see clubs and League reputations be switched. That might mean that nations with lowest rated leagues currently might be powerhouses after the flippening ;)

I bet Bulgarias youth rating magically shot back up to 200 during this somehow 😂

6:05 It's great to see someone with an influential voice saying this.

Of course, I respect the viewpoint that rapidly changing YR would be somewhat unrealistic. But, this is a videogame that already has plenty of unrealistic elements! If you make dynamic youth rating a big feature, but tune it in a way that makes its affect on gameplay basically unnoticeable for most players, you didn't even have to bother including the feature IMO.

I think the solution that would please everyone would be a toggle somewhere on one of the save setup screens that would allow you to change the pace at which youth rating changes in that specific save - say Standard (which would be the default), Fast and Very Fast. This would allow players to tune their experience while still having an "intended" setting from developers.

I would love to see a 100+ year simulation, seeing how club football would change if teams could only sign players from their own nationality e.g. EPL clubs can only sign English players, Brasileiro Série A clubs can only sign Brazilian players etc. It would be particularly interesting if all foreign players were immediately released too e.g. Haaland, Cancelo, Mahrez all released from Man City. How would City adapt? Would they buy more English talent or rely on their own youth? Would Mahrez remain unemployed for the rest of his career, or would an he be willing to go play for an Algerian team? I suppose you would have to find a way of stopping foreign regens. Could just release them every season, but that is a lot of work.

hey this is cool thanks for doing it. did you notice that despite being more players with potential above 170 80 years after, it seemed there was less really stars, like above 190

I think the reason Youth Rating changed so little is because it was set so low. The algorithm is probably logarithmic, so if you set it to say 5, it should change more across all the teams.

Just my mathematical intuition.

You could try bring the facilities of each club to the same level, it would be very sick

Loving your channel Tom... Idea: Try retiring the top 100 managers in the world to see what affect it will have on the top leagues?

If you alter the clubs youth ratings/Investment etc to all be the same would this make a difference to the outcome?

The thing that catches my eyes first about the first pause is the potential rating of the top current players. Eleven of the 13 players were below 180, with one player having 180, and the last with 193.

The reason why there would be so many wonderkids would be as the economical factor is at 20 and it is all developed states so therefore no matter the youth rating it could develop

re-do this experiment but give every club the same reputation and 1 for youth facilities and youth recruitment. that'll give some wild results!

Just let the Youth Rating go +1 -1 or +0 at the end of each season depending on for example: Country rep increase.

One thing we're learning from these experiments is that Eritrea should stick to cycling (which, to be fair, they're actually pretty good at).

Hey Tom. I think for your next video you need to destroy the youth academies of all of the teams in 1 specific European league (Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga. Any of them) and see how that affects player development for that country. I think you're right. Clubs have a greater impact on youth development in FM than country youth ratings.

honestly embarrassing of SI to market dynamic youth rating as some kind of big feature when it really does fuck all

The most fun wonderkid I've found in FM22 was as Mexican wonderkid who I brought in to BSC Young Boys and in our first 7 matches he scored 11 goals. Cool part was he also had the extremely french name, Michel Jacques, and he was a french citizen (I assume through his parents) so I didn't have to register him to play him in league and domestic cup matches according to Swiss rules as he was U21.

Also on Bulgaria, they have produced some nice wonderkids in my save.

You should do one where u bring everyone's youth development to 1 but put 200 on which ever nation has the lowest population or something in the game

What if you take a smaller league from a small country, bump up the reputation of both the league and the clubs and give them the best facilities possible. Maybe that could have an effect on the regens?

It should just be like this for people who are doing those building a nation saves
15 yrs = Decent change + or - 25 to 35 max
30 yrs = Good change + or - 50 to 75 max
50 yrs = Huge change 100+
50 years of having a team or 2 in the same league suddenly fight for continental cups should be enough to start seeing change to the youth rating
The economic strength and population of the country should play a role in it afterwards
when left to their own 20 years should be a +10 or -10 for most countries just randomly
