How To Make a Soft Shackle with 1.75mm Zing It or Lash It

Here's a demo on how to make a soft shackle (light weight carabiner replacement) with 1.75mm Zing It or Lash It. I followed nugget's tutorial here:

I'll be using these with a prusik knot to position my ridge line organizer on my hammock ridge line. You can also use them in a continuous ridge line set up for your tarp or to hang things off your pack.

The soft shackle allows you to open the prusik loop once its attached to your ridge line and then attach it to your tarp D rings. Then you close the shackle and can slide the prusik knot (and your tarp) along the ridge line to position it.

Prusik knot:

Not for weight bearing applications. Use at your own risk.

omg! i gave up trying to splice 1.75mm zing-it.

An overhand knot is a really poor stopper knot, because it can just roll down the rope. Have you had these under any real load yet? A better stopper knot is the figure 8 knot. It's almost as easy to tie.
