Never heard of this as aFilipino but it does make sense. If you get married shortly after your partner dies people are going to think you cheated on your partner when he/she is still alive especially if the date of the marriage is pretty close to the day your partner died.

Another law Philippines have is that you must take minimum 2 containers of leftovers from family gatherings, parties, or just anywhere with food. Unspoken but true

I think another reason is because it just doesn't look good when a person have another marriage shortly after his/her partner died.. It almost certainly means he/she had an affair while the partner was still alive.. We got a neighbor who did it and people always gossip about it.

Ideally, if she could afford it, the widow should wait at least 301 days because her thinking will be skewed by loss and grief, leading to bad decisions.

In islam widow can re married after 130 days. And medical science also confirmed 4months n 10 days are enough

That widow law applies in Turkey aswell, most because of pregnancy and baby issues but if you take a pregnancy test you don't have to wait for 300 days

They also do not allow divorce. Because they are pro family oriented country. This leads to their citizens who are estranged from their spouses to basically have lovers and even have kids with said lovers. Mostly it's the men tho
