That blue and red cross with lightsaber was a sign of what path Anakin would choose later on. Ultimately, he ended up killing Dooku, which basically told us his path.

I don't get why this isn't talked about more.
But there is such a resemblence between Anakin vs Dooku and Luke vs Vader.
In both instances Sidious is trying to seduce the young jedi to the dark side by killing his current apprentice. With Anakin he succeeded but failed with Luke
