I love that even the backup was able to assess the situation enough to know that he did not in fact have her.

Cindy Clawford is a very appropriate name for that cat

That reveal of the claw marks when he turned his face was great.

Cats aren't going anywhere they don't want to go.

He’s not stuck in the tree with you. You’re stuck in the tree with him.

Getting a cat down from a tree that doesn't want to is like trying to sumo wrestle with pros. They have home advantage

The trick I’ve seen a local arborist who does volunteer work retrieving cats from trees is he took a bag and sewed a glove into the bottom so he could grab the cat with the glove then while holding it flip the bag over the cat. Then you can just let go and lower the angry sack down to the ground easy. Cat’s caught so it can’t just run away or back up the tree and you’re way less likely to get scratched. Worked really well the time I saw him use it but that was a pretty chill cat who was very happy to get let down.

When I was a teen, we had an outdoor cat who loved to climb trees. She would climb up about six or 7 feet, walk out on a limb, and then drop on the neighbors dog when it ran past. One day I was over by the tree, and she started crying and meowing like she wanted me to help her down. I looked at her and said you got up, you can get yourself down. She gave me a look that I swear said “Fine. Lot of good you are!” and then she climbed down to walk away on her own.

Years ago when i worked at the FD we got a call to "save" a pair of Love Doves (birds] from a tree... the licak nursing home had a set of Doves that were pets. Needless to say the Dove escaped and were only able to fly short distance due to their wings being clipped.. so we had to go save Birds from trees...but it made all the residents at the nursing home happy so it was worth all the effort

As a vet tech, I assure you that there is a way to take a cat from an environment it doesn't want to leave. Even if you're successful, you do not have the cat, the cat has you. Good luck.

My cat Doug once climbed a tall tree at our house, and we didn’t think anything of it until we realised he hadn’t come down for hours. The only reason we noticed him is because of his little meows!
Upon further inspection, we realised he’d gotten himself wedged in a little fork in the branches, his back legs were stuck on either side.
So… as the smallest at the time, I climbed up a (rickety) ladder and slowly got him free. He jumped on my shoulder and cuddled in and wouldn’t let go for ten whole minutes after we reached the ground. That cat was the sweetest animal in the universe but he earned his nickname… “dopey” Doug!
