In summer 2019, producer Middle School released his eight song EP, The Finish Line. Last summer, alongside Aso and Aviino, he followed up with the collaborative EP, Canary Forest. Now, continuing his tradition of summertime drops, Middle School returns with the eight song solo EP, Passing Notes. Minimalistic and percussive, the project is packed full of reflection and emotion and delicate care. Aso and Aviino come along for the ride and all is right.

Clouds are quite funny, aren’t they?

We try to recreate the beauty of a cloud in paintings, romanticize them in our tales of being the softest cloud, and for being unreachable.

But isn’t that just rubbish? I mean, we hypocrites could care less about clouds. We often tease people for finding the fun in shaping them, for their clubs in cloud-watching. The realist in us knows there isn’t any magic to clouds; it’s only water.

And we seem to be able to touch the clouds despite any said past metaphor, flying in the sky. But it’s not the clouds people even care for? People wouldn’t fly on planes for hours to see the clouds, but for their destination. They’ll always be up in our atmosphere to give a mere glance our whole lives, anyways.

Though clouds may be beautiful, does anyone care?

No.

But, of course, it’s beautiful anyways.
