Do braces hurt? For me, my braces didn't hurt at all. They only hurt when I ate something and they did that for a whole month. The only thing that hurts now are my elastics

I got braces a year ago and when they get put them on they don’t really hurt. It’s *Always* the next day☠️ Make sure to floss and brush thoroughly food gets stuck in between the lil rubber bands and will actually rot! Also, when you get them tightened, be sure to take some pain killers/Tylenol a few hours before you get them tightened and the day after because your teeth are going to hurt because like he said, they’re moving and when you bite down it’s going to be quite uncomfortable! Sorry for making this so long but I just wanted to help some people who are kind of worried or nervous about getting braces ✌️😪

tbh i don't mind pain, but my biggest or worst fear is getting teeth pulled out. i will literally get anxiety attacks just from the idea!

When I got my braces on, it literally hurt so bad for a week straight but for wire changes and things like that, it doesn’t hurt as bad, it’s bearable. Never had to use my wax and I’m done with year one of my two years, honestly love my braces!

My teeth hurt so bad after I got my upper braces on. I wanted to rip them off. I always have discomfort after my tightening and cheek sores. I love I don't care for pain meds.

Yes! Braces hurt they hurt a lot for me the day after I got them then the pain got better. After that, they really only hurt when I get them tightened. My orthodontist put power chains on my front top teeth to close my gap and that hurt so much but it was very effective. Braces can hurt a lot but the pain in my opinion is worth it!

I got my braces 6 days ago. It doesn’t hurt that much but it’s only painful when you eat. Just eat soft food.
Day 6 it doesn’t hurt as much anymore but it still feel a lil painful when I chew something a lil hard. The gap are already closing at day 6 😂

I just celebrated a year with braces yesterday. For me personally, they made my mouth sore when I first got them put on and sometimes when I get them tightened. I had people tell me that wearing elastics would hurt but honestly, it's not even that bad. I've had worse pain than dealing with my braces

I remember everyone telling me I was going to be in so much pain because they experienced that . My advice is just don’t think about it . I didn’t feel any pain what so ever even after getting them tightened . It all depends on your tolerance for pain .

Braces treatment hurts so much because it’s so freaking expensive😭

My question is the reverse. I got braces recently and it hurt a bit the day after it was put on. I could only eat soft food (the first day after is the worst, but it really isn't that bad guys believe me). But after around 3 days, it stopped hurting. Now... I'm worried my braces aren't working because they don't hurt at all! Should I ask to get them tightened some more? Or do braces work even if they don't hurt/feel tight.

my braces hurt like the first week, but the pain got better!! the hurting is a good sign tho because your teeth are getting better and better. for whoever is getting braces, you will be OK. you will get used to them quickly.

I'm almost done my treatment, should be getting my braces off in the next few months. My worst pain was when I got them on. I have a high pain tolerance and I never liked wax, so I just let my gums get cut up. My teeth were sore for about a week and it sucked to only eat soft food.

Some tightenings would hurt for a few days, some wouldn't. Definitely not as bad as getting them on initially. Besides my teeth hurting, the tongue retractor that they used when applying braces really hurt my tongue, so my orthodontist knows not to use it unless they have to
