14' or 16' MacBook Pro... Let's Settle This

The infamous 14in vs 16in Macbook debate... I tried to talk about this from a different perspective than everybody else on YouTube and provide insight from my opion after owning both of these devices. Let me know in the comments which size you choose.

I initially bought the 14”. I used it for a week and it didn’t matter what time I used it. I just felt like I made a bad decision. I ended up returning it and buying the 16” and it was the best decision I ever made!

I bought the 16 inch because I felt like the bigger screen would be way more comfortable in some situations, which it is
But after carrying this beast around for a while I regret not having a lighter and more compact machine
Especially since I use it 95% of the time plugged to an external monitor
And the difference in the performance is close to nothing

It's really all about the compactness of the 14" for most people, the 14 is already a kind of a chunky laptop to carry, and the 16 is even bigger so. If you carry your laptop everyday to school/work, take it in and out of your bag all the time etc. It really starts to get cumbersome with big laptops, and these are the times you start to appreciate smaller and lighter laptops. But if you mostly work at home or don't move your laptop very much the 16" is definitely going to provide the better experience.

The typing critic is spot on. The weight and size don’t really bother me but I don’t like the typing experience for some reason.

In spain I can only seem to get 16" if i order it with the M4 pro not with just M4

Well you convinced me to rather get something more useful than cute. I'll wait for M4 and get it in 36GB & 1TB to have the security that I can rely on that workhorse for a long time. Thanks bro

i shifted from a 15 inch MacBook to 14inch MacBook pro and tbh i wish i chose the 16th inch one cause i can only use the 14 inch macbook comfortably when its way too close to me. I am a music producer so mostly i have a midi keyboard in between. My take is if you mostly work on your laptop without using any display (which im using now) Go for the 16th inch one but it you occasionally use your laptop without a screen or music production and video editing is not what do you then u can go with the 14inch

The 16” is a portable beast. A lot of ppl don’t realize that because they compare it to the 14”. Don’t do that. Just see it for what it is. I have the 13” M2 Air and 16” M1 Mb pro. So I know this arena very well. The 16” is a portable desktop. Period. It is so powerful and has a huge gorgeous screen, yet it’s portable!! Every time I open the screen I am WOW’d by how massive and beautiful the screen is. Tried editing video on my 13” but it’s way too small. You hunch over and the time line is like trying to grab onto a straw with a set of tweezers. The 16” solves that instantly. I’m not discounting the 14”. We all change sizes over the years because change is good. I’m a little more experienced though with having both a 13” and 16”. I see it like this…why fly coach when you can fly first class? Would you rather watch a movie at home on a 32” tv or a 55”? Of course you will choose the larger screen and better sound. And that’s how I see the 16”. It is just a beautiful beast. I can edit content by connecting my 16” to a monitor at a desk, then if I feel like sitting outside, just grab the laptop and continue outside. The screen real estate is that good. The 16” is as good as it gets.

Edit: I don’t recommend making such an expensive purchase on a MacBook without visiting a store first and seeing them in person. I can’t stress that enough. Take 30 minutes to drive to the store and use them both. Don’t make this an online decision where you have nothing to go by except for other ppl’s videos. This is too big of an investment and lots of ppl end up returning and going for a different size. You will have your answer instantly just go to the store first. You will have this laptop for years and years. Get it right the first time.

I picked up a MacBook Air M2 for portability to complement my 16” M1 Pro MBP. Was considering a 14” when I next upgrade…but maybe I shouldn’t.

Using it alot on the go the 16 is a no brainer for sure. The extra real-estate is huge.

I decided to go with the 14" because I bring it to school everyday and need its compact form factor, also I already have a very nice dual monitor gaming setup if I'm working on anything at home. I like to use it mainly for doing things on the go or just to chill and watch content. So I'd recommend anyone who's planning on using your mac as your only computer to get the 16" but if you're like me then go with the 14".

I initially ordered the 14" and the 16" to compare...I realized I have the machine hooked up to 2 ultra wide monitors so when I needed to work remotely that screen real estate was SORELY missed!

This video was perfect timing. I am in the process of purchasing a laptop. The 16" was always on the the top of my list. I started watching YouTube videos and people had me second- guessing that decision. I like how you compared the two differently than other Youtubers. I am going to get the 16". Thank you.
