The International Court of Justice will not throw out genocide charges against Israel for its military offensive in Gaza, but stopped short of ordering a cease-fire. On the eve of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the world court demanded that Israel try to contain death and damage in its military offensive. South Africa asked the court to order Israel to halt its operation, claiming genocide. The court in the Netherlands, which includes 17 judges, is an interim one that could take years for the full case to move through. This is not an analysis of the ICJ decision today. She is repeating over and over what has already been said many times. It is too argumentative. What I and many others want to hear is what is Israel's response to the six rules issued by the court for the protection of Palestinian civilians while continuing the war.

Imagine if on October 8, 2023 the United Nations Security Council voted unanimously to condemn Hamas for war crimes, demanded the immediate return of all hostages, and ordered Qatar to extradite Hamas leadership to The International Criminal Court in The Hague, where they could have been tried for War Crimes, Crimes Against Humanity, and Genocide.

Had that occurred think of how many people in Gaza would be alive today. Then ask yourself why that didn’t it happen.
