This new study is important, but it is important to understand the risks in context
If you are 20 your risk of getting breast cancer is 1 in 1000, and this study suggested taking progesterone only medications for 5 years increases the risk by 8 in 100,000 women which is very small. This evidence isn’t a huge change so you shouldn’t make big decisions about changing your contraception on this study alone.
