I love how doctors scare you into thinking birth control is the best thing to be on instead of letting your body do what it does naturally. Everyone's body is different 😒

I was fine before taking birth control and I'm fine after finally getting off after 5 years of being on it. Other than the shocking amount of heavy flow that I forgot was normal, I've actually lost weight, my skin is glowing and feel emotionally stable. The minor inconvenience of my sex life by using condoms and watching my fertility is better then major inconvenience in my everyday life. Big pharma finances medical research, so thats all I have to say.

I had my problems watching this interaction. The woman opened up about very sensitive issues in public. The doctor automatically assumed that the effects are due to an unhealthy lifestyle, personal hygiene, too much "male hormones". Isn't it more likely that the issues are due to her going off birth control 6 months ago? She never mentioned changing her eating habbits, skincare routine etc. The doctor automaticly assumes that she doesn't do it correctly. If she isn't able to handle such topics responsibly and respectful, she shouldn't give advice on this show. I feel kinda sorry for the woman, you can see she looks uncomfortable.

The Dr. never addressed birth control as a root cause for any of the woman’s issues. Are we to assume the birth control is not responsible for any of her issues and they are all lifestyle related?

Was on birth control. Had a good time on it. Removed it for spiritual reasons. And now I have terrible mood swings, no period, oily hair and acne

I just quit my birth control a week ago, after 18 years. A little nervous but I’m ready for that step

I’ve been on birth control for exactly two years and there was only 2 good side effects (not getting pregnant, and clear skin. It drained my mental health I was always happy and outgoing now, all I do is cry and I hate when anyone talks to me which is the complete opposite of how I use to be. I get two periods a month, abdominal pain, brain fog, extreme hair loss, dry brittle hair, I’m always sleepy and no matter how much I eat I’m always hungry. The list of negative side effects just keep on going but I recently decided to just stop taking my birth control and I’ve purchased a lot of natural supplements and teas to try and balance my hormones before the post birth control side effects appear. Fingers crossed❤️🤞🏽

I've gained 20+ lbs on Depo🤦🏽‍♀️ & I'm only 18. I only got on it because I had a prolonged heavy period that made me anemic & vitamin deficient. Why couldn't I just been born a male?😭🙄

I started taking combination birth control for my hormonal cystic acne 4 years ago. I’m scared to stop taking it because it’s the only thing that was able to clear my skin. But the weight gain in my mid section, low libido, low energy is taking a toll on me. I’m weighing my options to see if there are other options for me. I refuse to go back to a face full of acne. My self esteem was SO low.

I was on birth control for 3 years, and I’ve been off it for 4 now. My experience was a little crazy. My hormones were working on overdrive and it got to a point I had to size up my bra, twice in one month, I added weight and my mood swings were all over the place. I plan on getting back on pills soon, but before I do, I’ll do a proper study of everything that’s going to happen to my body whine I’m on it.

I was diagnosed with a personality disorder before I got pregnant and I wasn’t nearly as bad as I am now with birth control. I’m a raging bitch now and I hate it. I’m getting it out ASAP. I don’t

Been on the combination pill for 6 years and stopped in November due to migraines. So far I've noticed I'm a bit more emotional than before, and my cycles are irregular. Other than that I dont regret stopping the pill

Hormonal birth control does not balance out every women's hormones. This isn't one size fits all. We are all different. Some hormonal BC add man made hormones that we don't naturally produce and all of this is being communicated through our pituitary gland, our uterus and ovaries. I wished she would have mentioned a few of the long term negative effects of taking birth control as well.

I just quit birth control after being on it for 4 years, my entire mouth is covered in canker sores. My doctor said that the hormonal changes of stopping my bc caused an outbreak of the ulcers that I usually get. So prepare for that if you’re thinking of stopping

I was on nexplanon for about 5 months, stopped it then got the pill, stopped that then got the patch, stopped that then got the lowest dosage of the pill (over the course of 3 years) I got off of it in May of 2020 and instantly felt better. Although currently I am going through some side effects my obgyn diagnosed me with pcos (only have one symptom which is cyst on my ovaries) in august. In January I broke out with acne (always had clear skin) and spotting. Hopefully my body will get back to how it was before the bc because I was great!

Ugghh... unfortunately a generic OBGYN giving generic advice. Nothing special. Here's some potential advice - set up an appointment with an actual ENDOCRINOLOGIST & have them test EVERYTHING - by that I mean all female hormones, A1c, check for insulin resistance (you don't have to be diabetic), Hashimoto's disease, Vit D, etc. Do ALL of the things you're supposed to do "common sense wise" - balanced diet, or even try KETO (for at least 4-5wks before your appointment so you're already reducing your carbs when your blood is taken - make sure to fast minimum 12hrs beforehand (black coffee, tea with no sugar or anything or water only) - then go from there. I did just this and found out I have some insulin resistance, got on Metformin 1000mg/day & continued exercising and eating like I had been doing (overall healthy diet) & dropped 15lbs. I go back next week/6 months after my initial Endocrinologist visit to have my labs taken again. Good luck!!
