#OTD in 1967, "Our World" aired - it was the first worldwide satellite broadcast ever attempted and it generated the biggest TV audience in history to that date. #TheBeatles used the transmission to premiere their new single: All You Need Is Love. They wanted to use this moment of the world’s undivided attention to send a message of peace.

Oh to see the full videotape. The telecine source crops the image. This is good to present it this way. The actual song gets blocked easily. I tried to post just a 20 second excerpt of the ending for a Zappa project but Youtube copyright immediately blocked the whole video.
