Check out this clip of The Beatles recording the track “Get Back” from #TheBeatlesGetBack. Peter Jackson’s three-part Original Docuseries is now streaming on Disney+.

The Disney+ original docuseries, directed by Peter Jackson, will be arriving on Disney+ just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Made entirely from never-before-seen, restored footage, it provides the most intimate and honest glimpse into the creative process and relationship between John, Paul, George, and Ringo ever filmed. Be sure to check them both out, and don’t forget to watch “The Beatles: Get Back” when it rolls out over three days, November 25, 26, and 27, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.

Directed by three-time Oscar®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “They Shall Not Grow Old”), “The Beatles: Get Back” takes audiences back in time to the band’s January 1969 recording sessions, which became a pivotal moment in music history. The docuseries showcases The Beatles’ creative process as they attempt to write 14 new songs in preparation for their first live concert in over two years. Faced with a nearly impossible deadline, the strong bonds of friendship shared by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr are put to the test. The docuseries is compiled from nearly 60 hours of unseen footage shot over 21 days, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg in 1969, and from more than 150 hours of unheard audio, most of which has been locked in a vault for over half a century. Jackson is the only person in 50 years to have been given access to this Beatles treasure trove, all of which has now been brilliantly restored. What emerges is an unbelievably intimate portrait of The Beatles, showing how, with their backs against the wall, they could still rely on their friendship, good humor, and creative genius. While plans derail and relationships are put to the test, some of the world’s most iconic songs are composed and performed. The docuseries features – for the first time in its entirety – The Beatles’ last live performance as a group, the unforgettable rooftop concert on London’s Savile Row, as well as other songs and classic compositions featured on the band’s final two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be.

An exciting new collaboration between The Beatles and Jackson presented by The Walt Disney Studios in association with Apple Corps Ltd. and WingNut Films Productions Ltd., “The Beatles: Get Back” is directed by Peter Jackson, produced by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon, Olivia Harrison, Peter Jackson, Clare Olssen (“They Shall Not Grow Old”) and Jonathan Clyde (“Eight Days a Week”), with Apple Corps’ Jeff Jones (“Eight Days a Week”) and Ken Kamins (“The Hobbit” trilogy) serving as executive producers. Jabez Olssen (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) serves as the film’s editor, the music supervisor is Giles Martin (“Rocketman”), Michael Hedges (“The Adventures of Tintin”) and Brent Burge (“The Hobbit” trilogy) serve as the series re-recording mixers, and the music is mixed by Giles Martin and Sam Okell (“Yesterday”).

It's amazing that as cool as this song is, how Billy Preston's piano playing really brings it to life!

I will always be grateful to Peter Jackson for having corrected this long-standing perpetuated myth that this was one of the darkest episodes of the Beatles legacy. Instead, it a glorious story of redemption by 4 truly remarkably talented men who genuinely loved each other. Jackson let the movie speak for itself and what you witness is an unsurmountable pressure they put upon themselves, and yet they emerged with some of the greatest songs ever created. The movie truly humanizes them and shows the staggering amount of work put into creating their magic. Along the way you get to know John, Paul, George and Ringo like never before as 4 completely natural and genuinely nice people. My respect for them only grew from this movie. I’m sadden that this has been hidden for this long and we have lost so many of them – Linda, Maureen, Billy, George Martin, Mal Evans and of course George and John. Thank you Peter for doing this.

John Lennon died before I was born, but I grew up listening to his and The Beatles' songs.
It's so touching to see him on film.

It's just incredible how much talent is packed into that one room. In addition to the obvious, the engineer in the suit, Ken Scott, produced Bowie's Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, etc. The tape operator, Alan Parsons, went on to produce Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon three years later.

The gesture of Yoko unwrapping the gum for John is so touching. Firstly because Ringo gave it to her, and she immediately split it in two, all her movements seem so instinctual. The way she doesn't distract John from his conversation with Paul when she knows he doesn't see the gum, instead she just puts it in his hand. Very sweet to me.

Just started watching this. It’s pure magic. Seeing them in the moment of the creative process is incredible. When episode one opens and it jumps from one Beatles song to the next, it hits you just how prolific they were. A never ending supply of hit songs. I experienced a similar feeling when I saw foreigner live some years ago. An entire concert of hit after hit after hit. The Beatles were monsters.

I was born in the 2000s and I felt my entire childhood in this Docuseries I still remember when my dad first played me the Beatles. God bless Peter Jackson and The Beatles

It was Amazing to “Get Back”

Billy's playing and personality rescued them from the doldrums. Fascinating to watch their creative style. They would start a song, play unrelated snatches of other tunes, and then come back to the main item and finish it. It worked for them!

What amazing serendipity for Billy Preston to have shown up and added keyboard to this song. It’s impossible to imagine the song without it.

I was 2 in 1969 and this doc fills me with nostalgic appreciation for that simpler time, as well as filling me with renewed joyful love for the greatest band that ever was or will be, the Beatles.
