Is Skyrim STILL Worth Playing In 2023?

I hadn't played it in 8 years and just got the anniversary edition. No game has pulled me in quite like this in a long time (I seriously didn't remember it was this good). It still looks absolutely gorgeus at times. It gets so many things right, and in many regards it's still better than modern games in almost every possible way.

Skyrim became similar to Gmod. Even if it gets old, Moders will continue to make content. Fans have kept it going strong since it was released

I got myself a nintendo switch for christmas 2022 i stopped playing skyrim on my ps3 until christmas came it made the game feel like a different game with the motion controls playing skyrim is like living in another world the game had a few bugs and cliche lines but i love it to death sky above voice within my fellow dovakiin

12 years later, I'm still playing Skyrim. I was a a teenager back then, now an adult. Not just vanilla Skyrim, a gameplay with 1, 000 mods and nearly 10, 000 hours of playtime. That's a lot of adventures, sweet rolls, Mead and great times. Well there more sweet rolls to be " bought", until Hammerfell or where ever elder scrolls 6 takes me to the next chapter of the elder scroll series.

As a 1st time player in 2023 and even after installing a handful of mods, after a few hours the game feels like on the slow side just gathering a ton of quests that mostly feels like a checklist with most of them not feeling that exciting so far. As someone new, you can feel the game's age but if you grew up on it, then you're easier to accept it. I'm also older now and don't have as much time, so this game makes it feel like it's real time even inside the game so I might need something that gets straight to the point w/o having to worry about merchant's gold, needing to sleep til day time to sell, not being able to talk w/ NPC unless we're in her house, & the insane amount of loot. Straightforward game but just way too many variables for me to worry about and modding can also get cumbersome. Not saying the game is bad as it's awesome for the game to allow you to do so many things, but probably not the right time for me? Even after having said that, still do have an itch to pop open the game esp for the exploration. I dunno...will I get immersed in it soon? My previous game was Diablo3 which was straight to the point arpg so the adj might be drastic and am looking for a more fleshed our rpg game.

It's the autumn steam sale and I think I might get it. I got it back on the 360 but never beat it fully appreciated or even beat it. Tried playing starfield but in already bored of it and will play Skyrim on my steamdeck

Replaying this after having played games like Witcher and tears of the kingdom.
It’s hard to say it but Skyrim is probably still king. If the game had modern npc Ai behind the scenes it would still be a contender
