When I first moved into my apartment, I bought a lot of essentials from Dollar tree, I still have their brooms.

its way better to have everything you need and get it affordably and upgrade later and gradually as you go than it is to get expensive stuff and suffer from only having half the stuff you need! go cheap to get in there and every paycheck after you can pick something to upgrade like your dish set or your couch, or nice rugs etc. get in the door with all the essentials before you start impressing with high end items!

just remember that not all of the plastic items in dollar tree are bpa free, dishwasher/microwave safe!! Ik this doesn’t matter to most but sometimes people forget. I absolutely love dollar tree dish-ware lol

For things like plates, bowls, and mugs, I’d actually recommend thrift stores instead of dollar tree if you’re trying to work with a smaller budget. Plates are a lot cheaper, depending on the thrift store you go to… I know I got some beautiful big glass plates for like 75 cents per plate and then I think the smaller ones of the same set I found were priced at 45 cents, I forgot how much the mugs were but the prices for those can vary depending on the size and whatnot— same for the bowls! Again, that's just the pricing at my thrift store but thrift stores in general can def be a life saver if you don't have much money but want new things, and I also believe it's best to buy secondhand when you can because it’s just also more sustainable and better for the environment. But, I have gotten some plates and things like measuring cups, some of those plastic kid cups/plates, etc from Dollar Tree, they’re great too!

Wouldn’t recommend the measuring cups, the clear ones are really hard to read when you actually put something in it and the ones with red writing come off easily when you wash
