My home is so toxic I’m currently watching this at 15 ready to move out and these videos really help. Thanks

As a housecleaner I would suggest the following cleaning necessities:

-microfiber cloths
-swifter duster
-comet, Ajax, or some form of powder cleaner for showers, toilets, tubs, and sinks.
-windex because nothing else works that great for windows
-multipurpose cleaner diluted in spray bottle for everyday cleaning, and wiping down of surfaces in the home.

Depending on the home, you will also need something to care for granite, stainless steel, or special formulations for wood flooring. Otherwise, you’re correct in suggesting to keep it simple!

Place mats are not only used for a mess they were really invented for people with wood tables that they don’t wanna destroy there table because the heat from your plates or the condensation from your cups and it helps the table for getting nicks and scratches

This is so useful for college grads. It's so easy to look at really rich influencers buy apartments stuff when you're broke and want to do the same thing, but you make really great, attainable points.

Sorry im not a hater, but place mats are so you dont ruin your table, like if you hace super hot food or a cold drink, it would ruin a wooden table.

buy from thrift stores and use vinegar and baking soda with few drops of dish detergent for all cleaning...even toilet

Placemats are good for messy food! specially if you have a wooden table or a white one that might get stained.

These were really good things to keep in mind. Although I will say living in a family home with no dishwasher, the dish racks are essential but that's what is so great about minimalism, you cater it to your needs. What's essential for one person may not be for another. Great video!

Just moved into a new apartment all by myself yesterday and this video was super encouraging. My apartment is suuuuper empty and I was feeling kind of uncomfortable and looking at big furniture sets on wayfair, but they I started watching apartment essentials videos and yours popped up. Thank you!

I feel like....not all of these things are sustainable. Throwing out perfectly good items for the sake of having less doesn’t seem as sustainable as adopting full use of them and ensuring their existence as necessary

i like my dish rack 😩 yes i will accumulate them in the sink first and wash all of them later and let them air dry and put them up before the end of the night its really useful

I hardly comment on YouTube videos but I had to because this video was all the peace I need before moving Josie. I’m coming from ten years of living in fully furnished apartments and now moving to one that I have to furnish everything from scratch! All the other advise I was seeing was on the many things I needed to buy! This was DIFFERENT, not busy, a real heart to heart talk! I enjoyed it! I put my kind to rest and now I can rest easy! God bless you

if you want appliances and there is only one or two of you, get a 7 in 1 toaster/air fryer combo. It has functions for oven, broiler, toaster, air fryer and more. Air fryers alone are huge and take up space in counters or cabinets. These can usually hold 2 servings of food anyways so you won’t make too much

You right about the dish rack my first apartment my dishes barely made it to the cabinets this time around I lay a towel on the counter then put them away

At my house we tend to use the dishwasher as a drying rack lol - not a lot of plates so we just handwash it all

Place mats help to not damage the table with cups, dishes and utensils. Even to use them to ppace the main food dishes on in the centermof the table when it is a hot dish. A nice wood table can be damaged if abused repeatedly

a lot of people have table cloths for their tables so they don’t get ruined by alcohol, hot pans and dishes, etc. place mats prevent food from gettin on the table cloths so you don’t have to do laundry every time you eat ! :)

Another thing about appliances is you have to clean them. My parents once bought a big elaborate roasting machine. They immediately sold it to someone when they discovered how difficult it was to clean.

What about cleaning the oven? Ordinary spray cleaner won't do the job.
Also, place mats are for protecting the table from hot plates, etc., not for easy cleaning.

Omg I am moving next year and number 8 I bought everything you just said but I have a recommendation for everyone if you still wanna purchase those items get smaller versions it will save space 😁I bought a small blender and small waffle maker because it’s me and my boyfriend only so highly recommended that for a smaller household with less space
