Boone being 4th is slander, he is literally the guy known for jump scaring the player by giving you unexpected kill cams due to him deleting the heads of enemies you can't even see. The only character that can arguably contest him in usefulness combat wise is Veronica due to her insanely good up front damage. This is without going into his absolute banger of a Companion Questline.

Boone is one of the biggest buffs ever. You go from a scared boy to a boy safe in Boone's strong arms. You know he will solo the Wasteland while you sift through containers and bodies that Boone has laid out for you.

He may not pack the biggest punch, but Arcade is my homie through and through, great perk, great quest, pure hearted character, witty as hell, and he really feels the most like a companion.

Edit: after giving the game a Free Vegas replay, yeah, the replies are right, he does also pack the biggest punch. Had to have him sit out 3 Card Bounty cause he would always melt one of the fiend leaders and ruin their head before I could kill them.

Arcade is amazing. You just gotta equip him right. Get him all the mf cells you can and give him the smitty special. Bro is a beast. Also, veronica at 5??? Have you ever seen her with the two step goodbye? Or even greased lightning? Lily and Cass are situational, so I put them low. Boone and Raul are my go-to. Boone's story is just so fucked up and sad but it gives you that drive to do his quest. Also, the armor he gets from his quest is just so fuckin cool.

Having Boone and Ed-E together has worked so good for me. I prefer long distance combat. Ed’s perk putting targets on my radar and easily picking up enemies with boones spotter perk almost always guarantees that sneak crit/one shot kill for me

Ed-E is literally a portable reloading bench and killing machine. But i gotta say boone is also great
