About this video: Optifine is the most popular Minecraft mod ever made, and in this video, we go over the best Optifine settings for Minecraft 1.20.1. The goal of this video is to give you Optifine settings for 1.20.1 that will allow you to get the best of both worlds allowing for both incredible performance while maintaining decent graphics.

That is actually what Optifine 1.20.1 is best at in my opinion - providing good graphics with good performance. So, without anymore delay, here are the Optifine settings you need to be using in 1.20.1!

Before we get into Optifine settings though, you should add more RAM to Minecraft. This can be done by accessing the editing the Optifine Installation, click “Advanced Options” and changing the number in the “-XMX” section. We recommend 4GB of RAM if your PC has enough RAM for it.

From there, open Minecraft. As far as texture packs with Optifine, texture packs will cause more lag. However, the Optifine settings here will let you get the most out of texture packs. If you still have lag after setting up Optifine though, make sure to turn off your resource pack.

From here, navigate to Options, Video Settings. In the general video settings tab, set graphics to fast, render distance to 12, simulation distance to 5, and turn off entity shadows.

It is also important to turn off shaders if you want as much FPS as possible with Optifine. We do have some high-FPS shaders that will work with Optifine 1.20.1 in the description above.

In the quality tab, turn off mipmap levels and emissive textures. Turn on random entities, better snow, custom fonts, colors, sky, and items. Set better grass to fast.

For your Optifine detail settings in 1.20.1, set clouds, vignette, and rain/snow to fast and trees to smart. Turn off fog and biome blend, and leave sky, stars, swamp colors, and alternate blocks on. Turn entity distance to 50%.

Your Optifine performance settings are where you will get the biggest improvement to FPS. Turn on render regions, fast render, smart animations, fast math, smooth fps, smooth world, dynamic updates, and lazy chunk loading. Turn chunk updates to 1 and chunk builder to semi-blocking.

In the animation tab of your Optifine settings for 1.20.1, just click “All Off” this will turn off all of the animations. Feel free to turn specific animations on if you want, but this will hurt performance slightly.

And the rest of the settings not mentioned here are your personal preference and don't really have much if any impact on Minecraft’s performance.

Now, you can jump into Minecraft and know you have the best Optifine settings for 1.20.1. If you have any questions about your Minecraft settings for 1.20.1 with Optifine, let us know in the comments. We will try to help you out.

Otherwise, if we did help you get more FPS with the best Minecraft Optifine settings, please give this video a thumbs up and subscribe if you haven’t already. Thank you very, very much in advance!

You butchered the graphics, narrowed your field of view to the minimum, and then you say the game runs faster? Get out of my sight.

My PC at home has a worse graphics card than my travel laptop and it can run Minecraft with high-end shaders at max power, but my laptop can't do this. I've already directed Java to use the GPU, updated Java/Drivers and everything, but Minecraft still runs at 10-13 FPS. I can't figure out what's wrong.

By 'The best settings', did you meant to write 'the most minimal setting possible' ?
Because, all I can see is you turning everything off or to the lowest setting possible ?

My optifine was super bright and then it for some reason got real dark like a regular Minecraft world. It wasn’t with any of these changes I was just hoping to see if I changed something by accident.

Holy crap, on a gaming laptop I reached a whopping 2000 fps.
But hey, quick question, do you know how to uncap fps on fabric and forge?
It always locked at 144 fps and it would never go any higher than that.

I have found this helps with shaders FPS too.

TIP: MAKE SURE TO STILL CAP YOUR FPS FOR SMOOTHER GAMEPLAY AND LESS LAG SPIKES
