The last small business of shoe repair in Hawai`i, was in a tiny town called Wailua on the North Shore of Oahu. I brought my shoes there for repair, and 'talk story' with the elderly man who owned it. I cherish those memories. The laundromat was next door, so I'd go sit with him other times, while doing my laundry.
