The craziest part is the timing of the catch. Upon catching in the squat, the weight of the bar sinks you down ever so slightly, which generates one of the stretch shortening cycles. If you time it right, you can use the rebound to push yourself back up, but it’s extremely difficult to get your bearings in time.

I don't think it is a prerequisite to begin snatching. It is an ability that you develop from the exercise itself. I'm talking about people who do olys for the olys and not a BB or PL that wants to do some oly, in that case they will certainly lack mobility compared to their current strength.

Perfect mobility would probably add 40-50kg to my snatch today. But I don't think at 42 that perfect mobilty is in the cards, but holy cow has it improved since I switched from a power lifting emphasis to oly a year ago when i first learned to snatch from your videos, catalyst athletics and garage strength.

How long do spend on your mobility practice?
I do minimum 10 minutes before training then 10 minutes immediately after and 10 minutes at home.

Correct me if i am wrong, getting the mobility requirement for hips is based on your hip anatomy if you have shallows hip sockets you squat atg without compromising your back, with deep hip sockets no. A person can develop upper body mobility for olympic lifts but for lower thats based on your parents.
