No auto tune. No remix. No sampling. Just three talented guys playing their hearts out. And it is pure fire! When they played Shea Stadium in 1971, they sold out the place in three hours. It took The Beatles three weeks to accomplish that feat.

Seen them open up for ZZ Top back in 1981. Fantastic show. Both bands having only 3 members and making such terrific songs was special. 🇺🇸🎸

Ohhh, , , the Guys who survived Vietnam, to call themselves Vets, sure loved GFR. My half brother came back in 72, and the first thing he did was made a copy for me on 8Track to grow up on. I can remember many times coming home to have him just blasting the Railroad on full volume, to Just Feel Alright, as if from the Inside Looking Out. GOD Bless all those who Lived, and Died in Service... THANK YOU
More great GFR songs, Feeling Alright, Im Your Captian/Closer to my Home, I Can Feel Him in the Morning, Mean Mistreater, Heartbreaker. and the list keeps going on and on.

These guys actually sold out stadiums faster than Led Zeppelin. They are a hometown favorite here in mid Michigan, they are from Flint, MI.

"I'm your Captain" was the 1st 45 I purchased. During this 1969 tour, they where opening for Led Zepplin. LZ kicked them off the tour because GFR was up staging them every show. Damn hard to follow such greatness.

Great job. Btw, if your dad is in his 60’s and liked rock, he listened to it! I’m 65 and this song and band was in my wheelhouse. For another similar performance like this, check out the Edgar Winter Group doing “Frankenstein” live on The Old Grey Whistle Test. (If you haven’t done so already).

The ability to have a catchy hook that you delineate from for several minutes and jam and then pull it back in making the hook that much harder is something that is lost on todays music.

This is how I spent/misspent five years in the late '60s and early '70s. Man, that was real.

Great band from Flint Michigan. Sold out Shea Stadium faster than the Beatles. Another great from Michigan.

1969 this was performed, band members were 20 Bass, 20, Drums and Lead, 19 years old. This was in a TV studio, playing for 10 to 15 people. They played at Shea Stadium for 60, 000 not including the field. Can you imagine the sound and energy heard there?? Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for sharing.

Greetings from Austin!! Great to see your appreciation for this!! I was fortunate to have seen Grand Funk live in 1972 and 1974 in San Antonio, and also on their reunion tour in the 90s in Austin at the old Austin Music Hall. They were absolutely amazing live!! Again, glad you all did this reaction!!!
