Mark Farner lead singer also plays the keyboards and drums. Saw this group in Seattle 1974. Unforgettable!

Welcome to the GFR party. This was 53 yrs ago and the lead singer still rocks. None of them were over 20 yrs old in this video. Belong in the HOF for sure

With just three instruments, this is the best funky sound you are ever going to hear. You can hear all three instruments through out the entire song. Great reaction to a great band. GRAND FUNK RAILROAD. THANK YOU.

Was 12 when this came out in ‘69 and knew it was pure gold! Growing up then was magical, so many great artists in all genres, it was like a child in a candy store. Thank you for going this far back, but to me it sounds so clear like it was yesterday🔥

These 3 dudes were probably one of the most underrated Bands in Music....Bad Boys from Flint Michigan. OTHER Great 3 man Bands, RUSH, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Cream, with Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker...listen...BE AMAZED

This is why I mess with you so heavy. You GET music. Everything you said is right on. Once I saw that smile, I knew you were gonna be amazed. IMO this is one of the raw-est and purest live performances ever recorded. And they were so young - just out of highschool I think. SMH 🔥❤️💯

Saw them in concert in the early 70s, took 3 days for my hearing to return. It was LOUD and AWESOME!

Another example of pure sound, joy and talent!
Every gendre of music has this experience with an artist.

A band or performer that just elevates or transports you with their sheer perfection and performance of their craft.

Love the honest reaction, carry on sir❣

When going to see live music was a "to the core" spiritual experience. Damn, I miss those days!!!

When I first saw Grand Funk Railroad in 1971 I was only 14 and didn't know much about them. It was my first concert and I was blown away. The first time the drummer hit the bass drum I thought I'd been kicked in the chest it was so loud. I started looking all over the stage because I didn't understand who was making all the music. There were just the three men, Mark Farner, Mel Schacher and Don Brewer. They've been my favorite band from that day on to this day.

My generation's music, this music, was, hands down, the best ever! This is raw, organic, REAL music. It's sad to see what most music has become. Every concert today is theatrics. Concerts in the 70s didn't need all that - it pulled you in and kept you in the zone. Like Stevie Ray Vaughn, you got to see their souls coming out of their instruments - beyond awesome!

Drummer was an excellent singer, Don Brewer. He was the writer and vocalist of one of their biggest hits, We're An American Band

They’ve got a lot of awesome hits. I’m your captain, footstompin music, heartbreaker, mean mistreater, rock n roll soul, we re an American band, black licorice. Check ‘em out

I think this video, gives you a look at what was going on, in garages all over the country.
But this was top notch.
Mark Farner is a true rock n roll natural.
He is also, , the coolest guy you ever met.
Check out his podcast.

I've seen this video many times. Never get tired of it. So much energy.
Your reaction was the best, no doubt.
