I always tell people gas chamber day in basic training is actually a very chill day. when you actually have to do it in the real army it's annoying because you have to wash all your uniforms off and essentially it just ruins your uniform.

Very true. It didn't bother me that much. Made me do a lot of coughing and it sucked but was funny at the same time. As soon as the doors opened I was shaking my head at the guys crying and acting like it was the worst thing ever.

My son is going to fort Benning on may 3rd. He asked me how the gas chamber was. It's so insignificant that I hardly remember it. OC spray training on the other hand still gives me nightmares lol

I about died..but did lie about being an asthmatic when I joined. Actually asked my recruiter about that cause I heard the gas chamber sucks and he said how bads ur asthma..told him depends on how allergen rich the atmosphere is on any given day..he said, " well, it'll be a dice roll then, I guess." Yeah..it was rough and about blacked out upon exiting the chamber..thank God I only had to it while in Basic.

It wasn't too thick, most units don't run thick CS chambers, more of seeing if you fit your mask right

Not sure if I was dehydrated but I actually didn't have a reaction except for itchy skin. The guys who used the bathroom afterwards 🤣😂🤣priceless

Gas chamber is silly in basic. I laughed too. Although they used way more than they're supposed to. But it's alright it was fun. Any cold I had was gone. Actual unit training was hell for privates

I remember when I had the opportunity to be a Cadre for a gas chamber training day. We wore gas masks and gave instructions to the poor new recruits and it was absolutely hilarious. Brought back basic days.

It also sucks in DC school in the navy. You get a concentrated dose in a small room. Still fun

Yes they had to repeat our service number and sing three blind mice the whole freaking course

When we did they had too much gas. They opened the door and the drill sgts ran off and the captain came in screaming they need to use less tablets. I went in and it was not comfortable. Only couple people made it through the first 2 runs. The send time I went in it was just mild tingling on my skin.

Did it in army basic and in correctional academy. Academy version was way worse. We didn’t get to start with the gas masks, and they sprayed us with OC in addition to CS
