It’s disgusting how people even thought about doing this to people.

Imagine surviving all of this horror just so after the war you will face people who either justify what you've been through or people who say it didn't happen at all. I think it might be the hardest part of it all

My grandmother was a prisoner at Dachau from 1939 until 1945. She told us stories about train cars that were packed so tightly people would eventually die, but there was no room for them to fall, so there were numerous standing corpses packed amongst the prisoners. When they stopped, the prisoners were hosed down with strong fire hoses that were extremely painful. The gas showers were a regular threat, and you never knew if you would get gas or water after the doors were closed. The Germans performed all sorts of inhumane medical and dental experiments on prisoners. They were testing to see what methods of torture would be most painful and effective. There was this one dental torture that my grandmother said was the most painful thing she ever experienced. It was far worse than any beatings, broken bones, whips dipped in broken glass and vinegar or lye, branding, etc. The dental torture was unimaginable.

It is beyond insane that people dare to call these events fake.

My grand-grandfather survived Auschwitz. He was very skilled tailor, so he was tailoring clothes for Nazi's. He even had a little bit more food than his co-prisoners, because someone from the Kitchen helped him, but he didn't like to talk about it. We all know that his skills in tailoring saved his life. And we also know that there were almost no dead during the road because from our town it was only 3 hours of ride to Auschwitz . He died in 2003. He had a tattoo on his hand. After this, he gave up his Jewish faith and he was known as an atheist who doesn't believe any governemnt or regime after the war. He was one of those who openly criticised communism as well. Everyone admired his skill and everyone bought clothes from him because he was the only person with electrical sewing machine in our region. He built it himself and we still have it.😊

I ate breakfast at my local burgerking with an elderly CC surviver in the late 90s b4 school. He showed me the number still on his old thin skin and would speak about it occasionally. It was a true honor to hear his first hand account. Ill never forget.

My great-grandfather also survived Auschwitz. He almost had to go to the hospital once just by me mentioning it. When he died, he left me a journal he kept during his time there. It came with a note saying, " My great grandson, there was a lot I didn't get to tell you. You wanted to know the truth and so I bestow upon you my journal. Just know, once you read it, there's no turning back.
Your Great-grandfather, Jack S. Lees." I never knew what cruelty was until I read this journal. I will always love my great-grandfather ❤

The sick thing is that there are still people out there who think they "deserved it"

The lengths people will go to in order to dehumanize others is just overwhelming

My grandfather on my cousin's side was a POW and in captivity during WWII in the Philippines. He survived the Bataan Death March and in captivity in a POW camp in the Philippines along with his fellow prisoners who also survived when they were saved and rescued during the Philippines Campaign 1944-45.

To believe that my great grandfather went through this as a child and survived is crazy. Sometimes you wonder how cruel some people are. I don't know how Anne Frank could say everyone is good at heart.

My great-uncle served in WWll for the American Army. He was one of the soldiers that emptied the camps, and his stories were so sad. For example one of the prisoners he rescued had written a biography and it mentions my great-uncle. Rip my Favorite uncle 😢

My great grandfather and his daughter (my grandmother) are Dutch Jewish. When the Nazis came to Holland they both fled and went into hiding and my grandmother got separated from her Dad for many years and was homeless for a while until a family took her in and homed her for 12 years. Eventually my grandmother and her dad got re united. Crazy to think if they got caught I wouldn’t be here. I bet there’s a ton of people who wouldn’t be here today if things went differently.
