I have not had a problem with most of this show, but Alicent agreeing to let her own child be executed is utterly ridiculous

it better be a plot twist of Alicent manipulating Rhaenyra because Alicent's best quality was that she wanted her children to live & was protective over them - without that, she's just a giant hypocrite and that's it. Where's paranoid Alicent? Where's "you are the challenge, Aegon!" Alicent? Where's Alicent charging at Rhaenyra with a KNIFE for Aemond??

Damn it. I hate that they did this to Alicent’s character. She would have done anything to protect her children. That’s why she started playing the game in the first place. Her father told her that Rhaenyra would put her children to the sword and he was right. Alicent doing anything for her children was her only redeeming quality and yet they took that away from her.

Aegon in his darkest hours -

"i want my mother" (when he is in distress)

"Do you love me?" (Asking his mother when she forces him to be king)

"Mother?" (When they want to parade his dead son)

"They don't care what i think" (craving for his mother's approval)

The writers dropped the ball HARD with this one. There is zero logical explanation to this 180 degree shift they did to Alicent who is now betraying her entire bloodline for selfish reasons. Also when Rhaenyra said a son for a son, did Alicent forget what they did to her grandson Jahaerys? God what a mess. They need better writers next season otherwise it will be worse.

Remember how in s1 Rhaenyra and Viserys wanted to kill the person responsible for spreading the rumors that Rhaenyra's kids are bastards? It was obviously Alicent, but Aegon takes the blame for her because he is afraid his father will kill his mother. Now the same mother senteced him to death for doing what she told him to do in the first place. Bravo Alicent.

I do not understand… What did they do to Alicent??? With that young, but already brave girl who appeared in a green dress and interrupted the king's speech. With that woman who attacked Rainira because of her son's lost eye. With that cold but proud and stately queen? I will never forgive the writers for what they did to Alicent in season 2!

What they did to Alicent classifies as one the best/worst cases of character assassination. Even if you don’t like her, one of her best traits was loving her children. She basically lived Cersei’s line “love no one but your children.” Here, they completely destroyed her. She betrayed her brother, all of her sons, Cole, and even Orwyle for…what exactly? Don’t say it was to save Helaena because Helaena and Jaehaera will just become hostages once Rhaenyra and her faction get there. The only thing that gives me satisfaction is that Aegon got away. At this point, I hope Aegon k*lls Rhaenyra right in front of Alicent rather than Aegon the Younger.
