You guys criticing this don’t understand / haven’t tried it.
Compared to normal walking it causes far less stress.
Your heel more lightly kisses the ground and you roll your whole foot.
Barefoot walking fast doesn’t work that well.
Humans do have heels for a reason.

(PROBABLY KINDA) IMPORTANT!

I realize that a lot of you picked up right away that this is NOT good for your body in the long term. But I've looked up the actual rules of power walking and you are REQUIRED to do it heel-to-toe and exaggerate your hip movement. This vid is just showing how to accomplish that, while neglecting to mention it will likely eventually destroy your body.

Basically, this sport is clown shoes by rule.

My whole life I never use my glutes while walking, my hips were doing all the work. I never noticed until I started doing 20km hike with 25kg packs Wtf...

That does not protect joints landing like that on heel it jars the joints being a opposite force. it should flow through the forefoot accelerating forward

I don't understand why everytime I walk in any wet surface my feet would always get dirty especially in my toes and my calves, , other people don't get their feet dirty, , I know there's something wrong with that way walk, I but couldn't figure it. Help

This may look silly to most people, but this is an " improved " way of walking. They even have olympic race walking like this. I know it's hilarious at first, but if you try it and perform it well ( without dying laughing midway), you will walk faster, longer, therefore improve your health, body strenght, leg muscles, lose body fat considerably, lower cancer or disease, etc. If you walk " normaly" like most people do, its good...but not great. You choose. Looking weird but become stronger, more fit then general, or look normal.. but gain low rewards out of it. Peace.

Does anyone know any good forums about power walking? I'm a competitive hiker that isn't very tall but I walk at 8.5Kmph, is what I'm doing bad for me?

This is not the correct form of walking. If you walk barefoot it would hurt your heel and knees. Walking in shoes as you would walk without shoes should bring you comfort. Also, he just looks like a fool. Who wants to look like that??
