Not a bad attorney, just an over worked and under paid attorney without the time to properly research and defend you.

Ok. Criminal court for another person I went to the public defenders office with her. The DA gave a offer. Rejected. The prick just wants it off his desk and basically says so. Started talking about your priors....there were none. Pressuring to plead guilty, I say why? She did nothing wrong. She declined the plea. On the way out another woman was talking to him he didn't know her name. She's like your my attorney aren't you? We left. I hired a attorney, and she was acquitted. In civil court the public defender always met the state and the judge in chambers colluding off audio and video. My wife threatened barr complaint. I confronted the so called defender and told him she is entitled to a defense that if he was not going to do the job step aside for one who will. Again victorious. These pricks work together, paid by the same state prosecuting you. Beware.

Except in Colorado if the head is involved. Right, Andrew.

That's a lie. Some are decent but you only become public defenders when you're bottom of your class.

I think the issue is you don't really get to pick... so either it is a dedicated crusader that is good, or a grifter just pushing buttons to collect pay. And you are stuck with them.

They're terrible. Got charged with a second DWI in NY in 2012, public pretender wanted me to plead down to a misdemeanor (would have been a felony if convicted a 2nd time in 10 yrs). I was far from drunk. Blew a .03. Public pretender didn't want to hear a single detail of my case. Never looked at it. I hired a real lawyer and he got it dismissed. I would have had 3 yrs probation, interlock device, community service and 6 months of intensive outpatient rehab had I went with the plea deal. I'm assuming it looks better for them to get it reduced than losing at trial, so they just take the easy way out. They're completely incompetent

Someone very important to this man is also a public defender and some ass kissing was required here.
