Housing prices are through the roof, and per usual, there's no shortage of politicians and pundits who want you to blame corporations for the problems they created.

I decided to do my own research and see if BlackRock really is responsible for buying up all the supply and jacking up the rates. I think you'll be pretty surprised with what I found.

I don't know about Blackrock. But in actual reality there are multiple housing developments owned corporately for rent that sit empty. All over Florida.
Pointing to Blackrock never made sense.

Institutional and foreign investment (non-resident aliens) is a part of the problem, obviously. There is a lot of it in the most desirable places to live. Sure, plenty of houses to buy in dead mining towns of west virginia though. Over-regulation (requiring very specific building as opposed to just safe or energy efficient building), nimbyism, increasing zoning restrictions, and historical bad zoning (too much single family homes) all plays a role.

To claim that some of the worlds wealthiest people and organizations, who built and horde that wealth in Capitalism, are attempting to build a “Communist Utopia” is the most laughable statement I’ve ever heard someone say explaining the RE market.

Thank you to share this, I talked of the same thing in my show weeks ago because in Italy we have the same problems and we're having left-wing students and mayors say the same kind of stuff US congress says. Great to know that I'm not in the wrong side. Love your show, Brad and Based Politics.
