The Surface Duo has been marred with criticism and issues since it came out, but over time Microsoft has made some updates that has improved the user experience. Even still, and even with the Surface Duo fire sale, it still felt like it was missing something, and that's where the Surface Pen Slim came in and checked a lot of missing boxes that really makes the Surface Duo experience a lot better!

I recently got mine here in the UK and I have to say that after the software updates this is easily my favourite device now.

I don't really think the phone calling function is un-intuitive. the way you use it makes sense to me but then that might be because ive used large phones with cases that need to be wrapped around the back of the device and I remember the bricks of phone from yesteryear!

As a primary device it works seamlessly. My only real gripe is the camera but to be honest my wife's iPhone covers me on that as that's the only time i need a decent camera.

After watching a lot of reviews and YouTube commentary on it I have to wonder why people seem to have a bad experience and find issues that irk them with the device.

This is a form factor and software not really seen before (if you don't count the lg v60 i think) and I remember similar comments about phones not being intuitive when android first launched and even with the first iPhone.

Its about a learning curve and adapting. For me the phone works the way I want it to and i cant think of anything i would call un-intuitive. Happy to be corrected on it. I just haven't encountered anything that makes the user experience bad or odd in any way.

For reference I am using it as my daily driver having moved from a Samsung Galaxy device and I use it for teams, work email, general productivity, reading, entertainment, games, movies and music.

Agreed! I appreciate you for helping me with my MS Teams question on my Key2 (my primary). I actually received a duo from a family member and couldn’t agree more, MS products work really well on the duo with then pen.

Picked it up yesterday. Been dreading moving my phone sim, watch, buds, and all those pairings over to it just to give it a test run for a week. Your video makes me ponder whether I instead spend time working on a pitch to my wife that, no no no, this isn't just a 2nd gadget that isn't even going to replace my other phone, it's a CRITICAL NEW PIECE of my productivity infrastructure! Yeah, that's it.

It started as a secondary device with a second Sim card too but I'm now using it alone as my phone. I have large hands and maybe this help but I get 5-6 hours of screen time a day on it. I use it for team video call to take note at the same time and it work really well. I can make a whole day easily. The slim Pen is also a fantastic feature for this phone. I was just trying it and finally kept it and use it to replace a phone and a tablet. Onenote and custom sheets make this a fantastic planner.

My Galaxy fold 4 screen ribbon needed to fixed. I Just picked up the Surface Duo 1 256gb as a back up.. Works great except for incoming calls is hit or miss. Is there a fix for this.

I love my surface duo and use it as a phone my only phone I've using it while doing gig work as a delivery driver it's perfect since you have two apps at once this is my second duo since I accidentally got my first one wet and had to get a replacement the two weeks it took to get my new duo I was going crazy on my old regular phone. I absolutely hated going back to a single screen phone

Bro so I returned and bought it again and it turns out this one works a bit better which is weird less lag, I looked at the date and this I e was made 5month ago so I am so seeing if not all of the surface duo are glitchy.

What you've done is described exactly what it was intended for. That was the major issue. It's hardware wasn't intended to be used as a phone. Hopefully, the Duo 2 will address the issues usability of the device as an actual phone. I appreciate you making a video explaining in detail of how the device can be use, as a productivity device.

Would be awesome if Microsoft built some functions into the pen interaction like screen snipping, text extraction, etc. similar to the Note series. This thing COULD be an even better Note if MS put some effort into it.

I seen this on Amazon for less than 500 dollars for a new one and 256gb unlocked, is it a good deal at less than 500?

This one does the same mistake as the Gemini and Cosmos from Planet Computers, you have to open it to be able to use it. I think there were a similar that folded with the screens on the outside and for that part that was better. (Worse since you held the "back" screen in your hand and left smudges all over it.)
