What? Faifphone gave 7 years of updates? That too without any support? Man, that's some commitment!

the dumb thing about the duo2 was that it didn't fold flat due to the camera bump, why did that device have more than one damera array!? it only needs one dual use array on one screen side, fold it over for shooting things in front of you and point that screen at you for video calling and selfies. the best thing about the duo 1 was how flat it folded especially when the folding competition were a very weird folded shape at the time too

Ah yes, the Surface *𝗗𝘂𝗼* 3 with a *single screen* is my second favorite device only after the Nintendo *𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵* Lite that *cannot* switch.

Interestingly the Windows Central article not only states that surface duo is going foldable but also that MS is heavily interested in Android devices and has worked on several prototypes of a regular smartphone which should work like an equivalent to the Iphone/Mac ecosystem but with Android/Windows

One big issue with Nebula is that I miss the community options such as comments. After I watch a video, I look forward to check discussions and reviews in the comment section.

It's an absolute shame they're killing the dual-screen form factor. I preferred it over the Fold 3 and the Fold 4. I've tried all three. The Duo 2 is the one I kept.

A couple notes about the Duo: I don't know about the original version, but the Duo 2 right now is on Android 12L, which only has minor differences compared to Android 13. Also on the 3rd party app perspective it's mostly the same to develop for the Duo or for any other foldable: the API is the same, the only difference is that the Duo has a non-zero-width separator between the panes, but if the app is coded correctly (and uses the separator size reported by the system instead of assuming it's zero) it will work as is with no special treatment. The only difference I can think is that when the hinge is flat, some apps may assume it can run in "tablet mode", which can be true on Z Fold, but the Duo must stay in "book mode", but again it comes out of the box if you treat the separator width accordingly (in my app I only switch to tablet mode when unfolded if width == 0)

I am not surprised about the Surface Duo going foldable. I remember when the original came out, Panos Panay (Head of Surface and Windows) told Marques Brownlee in an interview on Waveform that the goal was always foldable. It just wasn't feasible at the time.

It did baffle me when they didn't make the duo a foldable.

I'm shocked that the Duo was abandoned, shocked!

I've never been to the US, but based on everything I've heard about the work culture there, giving your employees "unlimited time off", especially at a company like Microsoft which ranks everyone, is an incredibly toxic move.

Make it 30 days and make it mandatory, now that would be impressive for an American company!

Last December I bought a Fold 4 for $500 after my trade in and discounts. I absolutely loved it! Never thought I'd want anything else. In early February I had the chance to buy the Duo 1 for $250 brand new and unlocked and so I bought it thinking I might send it back. It's now mid March and the Duo is the only device I'm using. I use it as my phone, camera, tablet, and dual screen device. I love it. What would I change? The gap in the middle (wish it was closer together) and the bezels are a bit too large. But I think it's a super classy device and it works great for my needs. I get compliments all the time.

Great episode as always! Thank you so much for the episode!
Would you please consider changing the background music so it's not the SAME EXACT TRACK on a loop the entire video and on EVERY SINGLE video. Sometimes I can't watch the video cus of that

The unlimited time off thing, has been found to be pretty expoitative amongst research I've seen. As typcially, people feel compelled to take less leave as they get a sense of people taking more notice of the leave others take.

I was a bit MS fanboy in the early 2010s. I had a windows laptop, surface RT/3, and windows phone. It is kind of disappointing how bad MS is at managing stuff despite being such a big company. I didn't like how Apple tries to monopolize your stuff. Now I have been running linux and its pretty cool to try out stuff there and never feel like I got the rug pulled.

I mean, Microsoft's Android division is clearly not going anywhere and that article from Windows Central clearly says that Microsoft is actually doubling down on Android phones and software. It also mentions that has been prototyping regular slab phones. It's just that Duo's specific form factor is no longer going to be utilized

So I wish dude had mentioned, Microsoft unlimited time off is for salaried employees only, a small number of the total employees. Basically, salaried employees will no longer have their pay docked for time missed.

I wish Fairfone 2 was available in India. I love the Pixel, but I would love a genuinely sustainable option

3:52 as they have the memory in their desktop chips already integrated, would not be surprised if this would apply later on with phones
