Injuries impact athletes so much more than people think. Just because top level athletes, like Matt, can come back from injuries doesn't mean they don't seriously test your resolve and willpower. It devastates your mindset more than your body, understanding how fragile the human body is can make people, myself included, shy away from activities that risk it even further, however the true champions do what it takes to get back into their passion. So much respect.

I've had those injuries, and I've seen them many, many times in the world of strongman, and they are horribly painful. They can be almost impossible to overcome.
Matt Mask was an armwrestler who use to get under my skin, yet I'm changing my mind about him. He's got a great heart and never gives up, and that deserves my respect and support. I know every strongman you can name or think of and I've seen injuries like Matt's drop them to their knees and put them out of the sport permanently.
Damn, Matt, I'm sorry I never gave you more respect when you were going through that level of pain...I'm still a Larratt fan first as he's one of my brothers-in-arms, so I hope a very close second will suffice. Come back mean and healthy. This Canadian veteran has your back.
