Ytube should require that adverts be designated as such in the title. I get this is your livelihood, but would like to know up front if a video is a product advert so I can decide before it starts if I want to watch an advert video or not.

I live in a subdivision in the country. I did this same setup a year ago but I only back feed the 110v not the 220v stuff. I have a gas generator and a Delta Pro and could use either. Works good in a pinch. I dont have a well pump and the only 220v appliances I have are the kitchen stove and cloths dryer which I can survive without if needed.

I believe this is NEC compliant, because the largest single load served by that pannel is a well pump that draws < 30 amps (the rated capacity of the backup system). But, if you have an electric water hearter, dryer, stove/oven, or (maybe in your case?) a 50 amp welding/RV circuit on a garage sub that feeds through this main, if a single device can draw more than 30 amps then I belive that this would not meet NEC code. The battery must be able to supply the largest single load that is fed through that panel.... Which is why many people end up putting in a critical load's pannel and leaving the larger loads on a pannel that isn't backed up.

Very good idea. Nice solution to a black-out situation. Excellent. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent video showing the installation of a battery powered backup electric generator. Martin during your installation you showed the importance of safety which is extremely important with electricity. Many years ago I purchased a natural gas backup electric generator that is activated with a transfer switch. It is a great feeling when the main power goes out and the backup turns on to provide electricity to your home. Enjoy your videos.

Yep I have a switch like this installed, the setup inside the power box has a light on a switchbox to show if there is power on from the grid, no light no power. I switch that off to protect the grid, (this light also will tell me when when the grid is back on when it is lit) then hook up a generator like one you would use for a caravan, its big enough to run the fridge and recharge mobiles and run a small TV. I tested it once to see if it works and worked fine. I have solar hooked up as well, but that wont operate because if it doesnt detect power from the grid, the inverters wont turn on. Basically it just saves me running cables into the house to power a tv and a fridge. And yes, I turn off every appliance first before connecting a generator up.

Did I see the main power coming into the panel wires touching a sharp unprotected panel edges?

But don't you have the ultimate back up in your big battery system out in the shed?

@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving why wouldn't you install an automatic transfer switch between your primary power system and your battery back up?

Great Job! Nice discussion on the "bushings" to prevent the sharp metal from chaffing you wires. However, on the right side of the panel where your feeder comes in not only do you not have a bushing but the hole is knocked out to big. All holes like this must be closed off, per National Electrical Code, to prevent any accidental sparks from making contact with the flammable parts of the house.
