Testing what could be a much better solution for a whole home backup as compared to my old generator. The main question is how long will the EcoFlow Delta Pros last just running critical loads in my house. Also, how do you charge these units and make this setup a feasible multi-day backup system?

We have a maxed out 21.6kwh Ecoflow Delta Pro system with 2 smart generators, voltage doubler, smart home panel, 8 400w EF folding panels, and will be installed a 3kw hard panel array next spring. We are very happy with it. We love the fact that it’s portable. We can as much or as little of the system with us when boondocking in our 5th wheel.

Nice setup. I set a google calendar reminder to myself to go out every 4 months and start/run our gas-powered generator for 10-15 minutes to keep it ready to go. I put just a cup of gas or so in it at a time and always turn off the petcock at the end of the run to let it burn out whatever is left in the carb. So far, so good. Generator starts on the second or third pull every time. I have notes on the breaker panel about which circuits to turn off during a power outage. I feel like I have things set up so well that I almost wish we would have a power outage so I can be a hero and get everything running on generator power. But since I've got it all set up so well we've never lost power. That's how it works. 🙂

If you can afford a $6k solar generator unit then might as well get a good gas generator. They are reliable and put out a ton of power. As long as there is gas available. Start it and run it 2 times a year. Right before winter is a good time to run it and make sure you can get it started. I would recommend a duel fuel generator. That’s only thing I would do differently. Propane is easier to store for long term.

Got a 8000w generac generator for 900 bucks and can fill it up with gas when the power is out. Runs the furnace and everything. Love it 👌

They are nice, just not practical yet. Living in the north, we get -30 to -40F. When we lose power for a week and those banks are several thousand each, I could buy a second house with the quantity of banks to power my house for a week. Forget sun to recharge with solar when you're getting snow by the foot.

I use a propane generator that runs off my household propane tank to keep my Ecoflow’s charged. Works great.

I have two ecopros with 800 watt of solar. It's 1 emergency backup power for blackouts 2 power window unit that saves me 50 to 75 a month on my electric bill 3 power an RV for camping, very versatile

Great video. We have both. Our Tri-fuel generator, hands down, will outlast our Power Station. We can get 13 to 15 hrs. runtime on gasoline. We use our homes Natural Gas for fuel, so we have an endless supply of fuel. To be honest, you need both. They work well together.

I can afford three of these eco flow generators in just 2 months I am definitely looking forward for these generators This is 2023 not the 80s no more

Natural Gas generator is a decent option without the headache of a gasoline/diesel fuel set up.

Excellent video, I also thought about using solar generators to power my 240 volt needs, like my well pump, so I bought 2- Renogy Phoenix 1000 units and their parallel/split phase connector cable. Combined capacity is almost 2000 watt hours and up to 2700 watts for the invertor. The connector cable is a 30 amp outlet, NEMA L14-30. I needed to see how you setup the junction box and will test it when complete. Obviously will not furnish 30 amps, but around 12.
The Eco flows are more powerful and adaptable but the Renogy costs much less, $750 for each unit plus the connector cable for $99, so for $1600 plus tax, I have a smaller capacity version of your Ecoflows.
I have enjoyed many of your videos on electrical repairs and now you are branching into solar, outstanding!

On gas generators there is a float in the fuel line that 'sticks' if you let the generator sit unused for a long time. If you pick up one end of the generator a couple inches and drop it, the float will free up and the generator will run fine. At least for me this is the case. I used to have problems all the time getting it running until a neighbor explained it to me.

I combine power stations with a gas generator. It allows me to capture all that wasted energy things generator produces and run the generator a lot less. That then allows me to run essential electronics all day while only running the generator for about two hours a day.

Ecoflow pro + 5kw server rack + solar panel + 2kw gas generator. You cant go wrong now.

FYI, Amazon sells adapter cables, which on one end have a NEMA 240 volt plug with the two power legs "bonded together", while the other end has a RV type 30 amp plug. The power leg bonding allows both legs to be active at the same time.

This type of cable will allow you to power both legs of a 240-volt (2 power legs) transfer switch from the 30 amp 120 volt plug on the Delta Pro. Of course this will not allow you to power 240-volt circuits. But on my 240 volt transfer switch I do not run any 240-volt circuits; all 10 circuits are 120 volt.

This is where my portable LP gas, electric start generator comes in.
For the price of solar/battery I would think one could put in a whole house, auto start LP gas unit with a pig outside with enough gas to last for days.
My Westinghouse starts a lot easier than the one in the opening.😁

I got multiple quotes for gas generator here in TX, all about $12k TIC. Hopefully this option works

You'd think the hub would have some kind of flow balance that would automate switching the units to keep them discharging evenly.

So the ecoflow can plug right into my already installed transfer switch that I use for my gas generator?
