I too needed a BIOS update when I got my GTX980, have been experiencing the odd problems. CMOS reset fixed things up, sucks that yours fell off! :(

"My PC broke time to upgrade"
PC Upgrades in a nutshell. Console users keep saying how you have to upgrade every month, the truth is you noly upgrade if it breaks.

I finally upgraded my PC last winter after 10 years because of a busted power source.

It's quite amazing what the difference in price can be between a mainboard and a processor...around US$300-400 for a high-end mainboard and 7-8 times that much for a processor!

Hey Docm, you needn't worry about stressing that CPU at 4.5 GHz, it's base and boost clock out of the box are 4.0/4.4 GHz so you should be 100% fine. Minecraft would love some extra CPU speed, too, for those intense processing algorithms during tnt testing and such :) Although that processor at stock speeds is way more than enough.

nice Rig, really the best of luck with the new rig !

Pretty sure you could of just got a new motherboard, but some people just want pre built pc's and don't want to faff about and put the cpu in. Also the benchmarks mostly show "90% than other results" it did the same with my PC

That's a nice CPU you got there!
I can tell you it does work! I have the same. The only way I can max that out is with Kerbal Space Program and huge crafts!

Nice! Glad to see Doc's back with a bigger, badder, better than ever system =D

Is that a Coolermaster HAF case I see you were using in the old rig? Good choice, I've been rocking one of them for a while - got so much space inside for future upgrades! =]

Doc you can run it at 4.5ghz 24/7 . The way Intel has cpu boost set up is the processor will actually down clock until it needs to boost up. My 5830k runs at 0.85 ghz at idle then it will boost up to 4.7 ghz (my over clock) when under stress. I doubt you can run it at 4.5 ghz 24/7 as a rendering machine unless you set up a server with a virtual machine that would pull all of the videos onto it and render from that server. You'll be safe to do it :)
