⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking Empty New York City Streets - Times Square and Broadway

I have been walking empty New York City streets since the announcement of the State of Emergency on March 17. There are no other empty New York City streets that will truly remind you of our reality until you walk Broadway, Theather District, and Times Square. I started my walk on 8th Avenue and W 37 Street heading to Theather District on Broadway ending my walk at Times Square. With the exception of idle taxis and on-duty NYPD vehicles, there are barely any cars. Pedestrians are rare and far between. Empty streets of Times Square tell the real NYC story in 2020. Empty New York City Streets look a lot different in 2020.

In the summer of 2018, my parents and I stayed at the Holiday Inn right there in between those buildings (1:10) for four days. At the beginning of the video, it's so eerie to see 8th St so empty like this, especially since my parents and I walked those streets so many times during our visit. The street was always packed with people. I even walked this street way after midnight, and there were still a decent amount of people walking around. Definitely no where near as empty as you show in the video. The video is beautiful and yet....heartbreaking at the same time. Surprisingly, earlier this year, my family and I were planning on taking another trip to NYC around May or June of this year. Obviously, Covid hit, and at that point NY state was the last place in the world anyone wanted to go.
Some people have been saying that they don't want to go to NYC for at least a couple years, at least until everything calms down with the virus.
I can't wait two, three years. I love NYC. It's my favorite city. It's kinda tied with London, but NY is NY. There isn't another city like it. We can compare it to other cities, but it's not the same. The city has it's own identity. I love it's atmosphere, the people, the architecture, the history, the excitement the city brings. I'm definitely going to walk these streets again, even with the streets filled with people. I definitely will.

And thank you so much for the video, homie! Love the quality and the music.

I feel so sorry for the CD sellers and Cartoon characters who have no-one to scam. So sad.

I don’t live in NYC but i was there for a mini-vacation and to see a few shows the day before Cuomo shut Broadway theaters down. Seeing everything like this is so surreal...

I hope we never see New York City like this again! I'm sure there will be future pandemics but perhaps we will handle them differently. Who knows!
