Yukon gold potatoes work in a similar way and are in every US grocery. Imo the yellow ones with thin skin and few small eyes are the best for mashing.

I was taught by one of my chefs how to make these and we baked the potatoes (light oil, heavy salt) then peeled them, ran it through a tammy (drum sieve) then folded in buerre monte. When i make them i do mount the butter with reduced cream just to make sure the butter emulsion doesnt break but if you're skilled enough you can just use a tiny, tiny bit of water.
Also yukon golds work just a good for this. 1:1 butter to potato. I do use irish butter as well.
Edit: never tried it with truffle. Ingredients were just yukon gold, irish butter, little bit of cream, white pepper. If you use salted butter and season the potatoes well you shouldnt need more but i really all depends.
