The Antidote to Moral Relativism (The Truth Will Set You Free!) | THEOLOGY OF THE BODY

In the modern world we often hear people say things like, “Well that might be true for you, but it’s not true for me.” So, is there only “your truth” and “my truth” or is there a truth, “the truth” to which we are all answerable?
Merely proving the existence of truth - an easy thing to do - does not provide an antidote for those who struggle to rectify it with their personal experience. John Paul II’s personalism offers a window into the subjective experience of the person that can lovingly reunite it with objective reality.

“Freedom does not mean the ability to decide what is good and evil, it’s the ability to choose between good and evil” 🔥👏🏻

We live in the Netherlands and my daughter will have sexual education in her school. She is 12 and we don't trust the school system to explain this subject properly. We weren't sure how to handle it.. Strangely your name was mentioned is several different podcast/videos that I've been watching the past few days. So I'm sure God has lead us this way to your youtube-channel. Praise God. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos to be able to explain these truths to my daughter. God bless you!

This is probably the most important teaching for the whole world today. I wish I'd heard this and had the courage to put it into practice years ago!

It’s not truth if it’s only from one point of view. Truths are universal

If you’re all sail and no anchor you’ll be blown around by the winds of changing opinions and the fashions of the day. Truth is what moors us to those objective values and beliefs that lead us to discern right from wrong. As a Christian I pray everyday to understand truth and to properly discern.

Most average relativists do hold to scientifically verifiable truths but deny moral truth which I think is much harder to nail down

I have been waiting for this explanation, but I hope you devote one video to explain deeper the difference between objective view of realism philosophy and the subjective view of phenomenology, particularly on personalism. As the philosophy behing John Paul II theology of the body...

The Truth is objective but we humans are subjects, we have our personal subjectivity and that is unavoidable, we experience the objective reality but we do so from us. We can all look at one color and call it the same thing but if our eyes have different photoreceptors then we will be experiencing that very same reality from a different perspective that we can't avoid at all. My truth is a way for people to say, my experience of truth is not yours, and God is very aware of this (of course), that is why he works with everybody on an intimate and personal level, if he is bringing an emotional person to him he might do so through emotions, if somebody experience life as a song and loves music, he might bring that person through that. That's why we have sooo many saints that are sooo different and diverse, because knows that they are in a way points of view, perspectives that can look at him from there, and that's ok. Objective reality, and objective truth is always there, that Truth is God himself, but we must stop trying to avoid the fact that we have our very special subjectivities and that's ok.

What about when the Church makes truth claims about the material world? E.g. that humans once lived in a state of paradise and death was only introduced after their first sin. Because it is a claim about the material world, we cannot say it is truthful without verifiable evidence.

FWIW I am a practicing Catholic but this has not been adequately addressed in my opinion. Secular people that I know are often very rooted in objective reality and want good evidence for the claims we make.

If my belief or lack of belief in the fact that the cup contains poison doesn't affect the truth that the cup contains poison, then why does the Bible emphasize the importance of belief for the act of praying? It is stated multiple times that one must have faith in order to receive what one asks for, and that those who lack faith will not receive. If the aspects of reality are not influenced in any way by what we believe about them, then how do you explain the correlation between having faith and receiving what we ask for?

if you say youre a Catholic that for me is objective and subjective it dont have to be so difficult about identity if we are civil enuf in our discource the trouble begins in the way we want to subject each other not so much that were a persuasion of religious belief but that the govt. wants all our roles as ducks in a roll....so im not against catholics tho im a born again we are all sinful critters in need of the Lord's subjective---objective pronouncement of the word----we like the bible but at times fail to live up to Christ's very WORD and heaven help us if we dictate---its so hard to soul win because we have to be superior and thats not where its at---so God bless the American freedom to not be a duck all in a roll.

It seems strange that you could make a video like this. You don’t attempt to explain why the Catholic church’s teaching on sexuality is true; you simply assume that it is. Or is the video designed solely for committed Catholics who already share this assumption? If so, then you are plainly ‘preaching to the converted’.
