I go over studies on how drinking coffee affects blood sugar and insulin sensitivity in the short and long term, how it influences type 2 diabetes risk, and how it affects people who already have type 2 diabetes. Press "show more" to see the study link(s)!

Note: All these results are about coffee itself--not talking about sugar, creamer, etc.

other studies have shown that coffee/caffeine consumption reduces risk of death and serious diseases such as Parkinsons and other dementias as we age. Certain cancers (such as liver cancer) reduction, less depression/suicide. Many who live into their 90s were found to be coffee drinkers

I’m retired military. I only drink one serving a coffee a day. One pot.

As a type 2 diabetic, coffee has never spiked my blood sugar. It hardly has any effect on my blood sugar at all. That's the only science I need.

Yes please! A video on what actually cause insulin resistance in T2D would be greatly appreciated.

So when you say that consuming coffee raises blood sugar.. you need to quantify this statement by stating the exact amount. It does sound like you are implying there is no statistical significance ... but there is still an "increase." But by what amount? Also, including the graphs from these published studies which demonstrate these statements would be great!

Ethiopia, gave coffee to the world. Lets go for Yirgatcheffe Ethiopian coffee with no sugar. Mry Grandmother drank everyday 5 coffee without sugar. She lived till 97 with no illness to talk about in her life in east of Ethiopia.

I’ve been t1 diabetic 58 years on insulin. A 12 oz cup of coffee acts exactly like 18 grams of carbs on me and I have to cover it with insulin, however coffee gives me so much energy I hike 5 miles, at least, every day on it. It drastically lowers my blood sugar because of the increase in exercised induced insulin sensitivity. In fact, I don’t need any insulin while I’m hiking, including a long 16 hour day of hiking and coffee guzzling.

Former pre diabetic, I have no problem drinking coffee with or without food. I've been a coffee drinking all my life, but usually two or three cups a day. I used to drink it with very little sugar if any, lately I only put half of packet of stevia with half and a half or whipping cream two or three teaspoons. Somedays, I drink it plain black, nothing added.

on a side note regarding coffee, a Harvard study indicated that at least 1 cup of coffee a day reduced the chance of developing prostate cancer by 50%. Something in the coffee itself, not just caffeine.

I am VERY interested in listening to you expound upon the true causes o type 2 diabetes, since this disease has occurred in previous generations of my family and I am trying pretty hard to avoid it. I enjoy your videos, having now watched about half a dozen of them, and I find you a competent and trustworthy source of information. thank you1

Yes, I'd be interested in a full explanation on the link between insulin resistance and blood sugar. I'd also be interested in your research findings on sodium consumption and high blood pressure!

Thanks for the video, always interested in hearing more about my favorite bevy.
I’m a type 2 diabetes and hypothyroidism defeater. Diagnosed, prescribed meds, didn’t fill the prescriptions.
Got a blood glucose meter, tested everything I eat, singled out sugar and starch, stopped eating them for 6 years.
Diabetes conquered.
Learned about polyphenols and ate or drank anything I could stand that had it (found out that I can’t even look at an elderberry 😂).
Speaking of looks, your skin looks (to me) much healthier in your end clip than the rest of the video.
Natural is beautiful.
Thank you again.

I found that black unsweetened tea sent my blood sugar sky high. Using a glucose monitor I found that my body treated the tea as though it were sweet tea. I wondered if it was unique to me or whether we don’t fully understand what spikes blood sugar.

Thanks for getting right to the point and being clear on the statistics and conclusions.

Well, I have hypoglycemia which is blood sugar crashes. My blood sugar goes too low. This has been happening for 15 years and of course most of the time a good meal with proteins and vegetables fixes the situation, Or for a quick fix orange juice, candy bar, Coke, etc. but then that just leads to another crash later But I have learned through the years that coffee caffeine really causes my blood sugar to plummet within an hour of drinking it. I have to drink non-caffeinated coffee. And Red Bull ( no coffee) in the middle of the day always causes a crash. So it’s caffeine. But every once in a while if I want a Red Bull to get a bunch of house chores done, I have to eat like a hamburger or steak with it (lots of protein) and then I can drink small can and manage it. I’ve always wondered how caffeine can make your blood sugar go way up our way down. There’s plenty of videos on it make it go up, but no one ever talks about hypoglycemia the only talk about diabetes.
