I went back to school at 49, and am about to get my BA at 52. You were part of my journey. Thank you.

I think older learners have significant advantages over younger learners. My impression is that tend to want to take things slower and learn them deeper rather than just have the attitude of "shut up and calculate". However given that I am 44, this may be just my bias.

This video made me start crying. I am 21 and feel so ashamed about not knowing as much math as my peers. Thank you for your encouraging words and I will keep trying.

Currently 24 years old, taking calc 3 and linear algebra, thank you for the encouragement, i sometimes have those feelings of being too old, but i realize it's never too late, and especially because I'm not starting from scratch. Cheers

Hey, I’m 76. I’m not going back to college, I’ve already done that. I have a BA in English and in math, but now I’m studying on my own. A few years ago I had cancer surgery and chemotherapy, and that completely fries your brain. I realised early on that if I didn't make myself use my brain, if I didn't push myself, I’d be pretty much stupid for the rest of my life. It was incredibly hard at first. Things that used to be obvious were now mystifying. I realised what it was like to be one of the kids who ‘didn’t get it'. I’m studying pretty much from the ground up, and I feel as if I’m understanding math in a deeper way than I did previously, or at least a different way. So, yeah, going back to studying is possible for anyone. It’s hard work but I absolutely love it. Thank you Math Sorcerer for your math videos, both the teaching ones and the encouragement ones.

I remember having a college mate, I dont know her age but she had wrinkles. She was a Math major taking a Chemistry class with me. She was probably more motivated than any of us. She seemed always excited to learn anything new, meanwhile we were half asleep in that 8 am class!

I think when you get older and pursue a college degree, you’ll probably be more serious in your studies, and appreciate the privilege of receiving an education.

After getting my PhD in Law (in the UK) on the eve of turning 50, now I’m getting into maths, which I have not done in over 30 years. I get up every morning at 6, do three hours of maths (I’m refreshing Algebra and Trig before getting back into calculus) then go to work. Until I breath, I will study! Thanks for all your videos, very inspiring!

Thanks alot for the pep talk! I failed out of college at 20 because I didn't have my priorities straight. I spent the next several years teaching myself to be a software developer. I restarted college spring 2020. I am majoring in computer science. This is my third semester in. I have a 4.0 GPA and I turned 31 this July. I'm so grateful for the people who have supported me, and my message to everyone thinking about it is this: all that it takes for you to achieve it is to decide that you will.

My advice: write yourself a letter on day 1, where you tell yourself why you are doing this. If you ever have a doubt of why you are doing this, read the letter. Don't quit.

Thank you! I really needed this today. I am doing a BS in Electrical Engineering and everyday gets harder and harder. Days off don't exist and I study extremely hard but still get average grades. I think the important thing is to never give up but sometimes it can wear you down. This video picked me back up a bit.

Thank you so much for this video! I’m a second year math major and I’m 22 and I often feel behind my peers who are working or doing their Masters degrees but your video is encouraging! I’ve saved it to my playlist(s)

I'm 35 years old from Afghanistan, I have BA in chemistry, but as you may know due to about 50 years long war the quality and resources of schools and collages are so bad here and I suffer.I see your channel and quality of your teaching it is amazing, I'm sorry that we don't have such guys like you here to teach new generation and kids to learn and bring our country out of this darkness that we are, by the way I decided to follow your lessons and make myself professional at maths and then I will teach it to kids and students here in quality. Sometimes I feel I'm to old, but now after watching this video I'm intended to do my job and get professional.

Until this semester, I had not been in school since 2011, and I had not taken a math course since before then. I decided to go back at the age of 35 for a second undergraduate degree in statistics in hopes of getting a master's in the same. I definitely agree: you're never too old!! Thanks for helping me in my DE class this semester, by the way! You're one of the only reasons I'm understanding it! (My last Calc class was in 2007!)

Thank you for this! I LOVED math in high school but didn't have a great teacher for Algebra 2. When I got to college I tested into Calculus but I really wasn't prepared. After watching so many of your videos I realize I should have swallowed my pride and just back up to precalculus but alas. I ended up switching majors and the only college math I took was statistics. 40 years later it still bothers me 😮 so I've been brushing up on Algebra 2 and trig with the hope of learning the language that God speaks!

your videos are very inspiring. I am thinking of applying for a graduate math degree and I am 40 right now. It scares me sometimes when I compare myself with my friends who finished their PhDs in their mid thirties. I love math so much that I could do it all day. But I was always scared of either thinking I am not cut out for it or recently feeling too old. Thanks to inspiring people like you I finally managed the courage to take a break from job and start preparing for graduate school.
