The back seat storage is great! We use ours all the time. We also use Kwells kids for travel sickness (both ours need them) and also a travel potty for emergencies (traffic jams!)

These are great tips! We're going to have an 8hr drive with our kids next summer and I'm already dreading the whining and bickering! I love the idea of headphones and kids podcasts and audio books!

For car sickness my tip is to use a doggy bag inside empty drink cup like a tiny trash can. Leak proof and the child can hold it easily.

Edit: The free printable scavenger hunt, bingo etc. and how to draw videos in a restaurant are absolutely genius tips 🧠

I’m sure you did a hack once of a cereal decanting container as a bin for the car, and I still do this! It’s absolute genius! Love all your videos! 🩷

Great tips.

I suffer from travel sickness on long bus & coach journeys, in fact I can’t travel on coaches anymore because of this. The nausea is awful.

We love going to Cornwall ( also from Essex) but the drive is hard. The drawing cases from Ikea are a must. My 6 year old and 3 year old love them. I also collect little treats from Poundland in a bag and let them have a lucky dip in the bag, anything they’ve not seen before is a win win on a journey. X

We play a game in the car also. If you see motorcycles we yell Bingo!! My cousin in North Carolina taught my kids last month when we were down there. We are from NY and we drove down there.

On longer journeys in our car we play word games too. One is where we pick one letter, and then we take turns to say a word beginning from that specific letter. You can decide on what sort of words everyone is allowed to say, for example, only nouns, no proper names like city and country names etc. The longer you play, the harder it gets - and that's where it gets really fun and competitive! Another game we play is "Associations". Someone says the first word (any word that pops into their mind), and then the next person says the word that first came to their mind after hearing the first word. Then the third person says a word that they first thought of when they heard the second person's word. And so on... For some reason our kids love it a lot! Oh, and another game - which develops creativity a lot! - is where you choose an everyday thing and take it in turns to suggest ways to use it. We usually start off by naming obvious uses and then come up with very unexpected, rare or creative ideas. And audio books! We love listening to a fun adventure audiobook on car loudspeaker. Among our favourites by far are stories about Huckelberry Finn, Tom Sawyer, "Seacrow Island" by A. Lindgren or something by Jules Vernes. Kids just love hearing them over and over again. Or if we, the parents, want to listen to something else on the radio (or just get some peace and quiet...), our kids listen to the audiobooks through their earphones. Love watching your videos, Emily! Summery greeting from Lithuania.

My travel sickness tip if it happens a lot and your child is young or struggles to grab a bag in time is to take the stress out by getting an activity bib that you would use for painting and have your child wear it over the seat belts....then there is very limited clear up!🎉😂

I was always the child who was travel sick and once I was sick I'd set my brother off being sick. My parents tried everything but the only thing that worked was traveling in the middle of the night so I'd sleep through most of the journey.

Try a game of reading number plates but use the phonetic alphabet ( a alpha, b bravo, c Charlie etc)
