My parents started trips at 4am...it was great, slept, wake for breakfast, there in no time.

This reminds me of the Diary of a wimpy kid book "The long haul" when the mom uses tips from family frolick or whatever

I saw this and so many memories flooded my mind and heart from when my littles were actually little. My now adult "little" noticed I was doing the heavy breathing while trying to stop the tears thing and asked why I was crying. I showed her and she yelled out,
"omg I remember pushing our paper car driving across our car on vacations and the pulley to share toys back and forth and the binders you made each of us, oh and the scratchers for movies, music or surprises. Those were the best times!"
And then any chance of stopping the tears was clearly not happening and I cried like a baby.
It just goes by way too fast.
Its sweet to know that all those precious moments are still cherished memories for my kids even now that they are grown.
Thanks for sharing this. 💗

We used to leave in the evening after my parents got off work to drive from GA to Texas. My parents switched out while the other one slept. Some of my best memories growing up were sitting up late at night with my dad talking to him while everyone else slept. This was back in the late 70’s and all throughout the 80’s. We even make a few trips to CA that way.

I did 9 hour road trips all the time when I was little (cause my grandparents lived far) and I never got anything this nice. We had A&W, little TVs that strapped to head rests and LOTS of breaks. Play ground time was KEY to keeping us quiet.
Also I can’t decide if I’m jealous of you lunch or think it’s too fancy for a road trip.

I do a 26 hour road trip every year and that little state road thing on the roof is awesome and I’ll be doing the suprise bags

This is such a great idea. As a granny now, I NEVER do long road trips (that's my children's fun job) but we do a lot of one tank trips about 3 hours away but having bags for them to do down and back would be great since they usually are in meltdown mode on way back. The pulley system is great because that's where my grands sit.

My road trips as a kid consisted of; drink, blanket and pillow, and no sleep the day before so I could pass out in the car 😂
To me it felt like teleportion because I'd just close my eyes and opened them when we were there — so I liked it, and my dad loved the silence 😂

Okay, when people like you show how you treat your kids, it makes me want to live with you for one day

I LOVE the “where are we” line on the ceiling! I don’t have little kids and I still want to do that on my next family road trip 😂❤

Dam so much stuff that's going to get thrown away as soon as they reach their destination.
Why so much stuff.

Bruh, my niece and nephew did 12 hour trips to Grama’s house four or five times a year with one toy, a blanket, some coloring supplies and like a DVD.
