ESPN FC’s Mark Ogden, James Olley and Rob Dawson look back on Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo’s first taste of senior international football with England and wonder if he’ll be a part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.

People don’t appear to grasp that Mainoo, at 18, played against Brazil and Belgium and looked like he was 28. As farcical as the FIFA rankings are, Brazil is 4th and Belgium 5th in the world rankings. I don’t think people are truly grasping how natural and calm Mainoo looked at 18 against literally a couple of the best national teams in the world. England were not playing the likes of Armenia, New Zealand, or Guatemala. They were playing legitimate elite teams and Mainoo stood out big time. He was man of the match yesterday. How do you not bring a player who was literally voted man of the match?

You protect the boy by not letting him do interviews. Its not hard.

I don't get even an air of arrogance from Mainoo. He's class through and through

Why is this even a debate he's a natural born footballer who only come round every 50 years

the liverpool supporters ESPN can't believe Mainoo is playing with men aged 18 and their 20 year olds are playing for under 21s

I don't believe any teenagers in any national team should be dealing with media . Media should be for more senior players, let them do media .

Spain will bring a 16 year old yamal, brazil will bring endrik to the copa. If youre good enough your old enough. Kobbie proved that he can not only hang but be perform very well. Bring the young man!

After his first start for England it's not even a debate anymore. Mainoo is levels above anyone he is competing for a position against. The fact is before he came along the position he is now going to fill was a weak spot, and now its going to be another x-factor that makes it even more difficult to play against England.

I’d go with Mainoo, Rice & Bellingham in there from now, Phillips is miles off the squad let alone the team, I’d personally leave Henderson at home & the likes of Conor Gallagher doesn’t do enough to start for England for me.

Go with the 3 I said & build the team around those 3 & there is also Elliott & Scott who will be in the mix in a year or so.

much better content from ESPN with this kind of settings and journalists than having a panel ranting on players of not their allegiances.

Just keep him away from the cameras. That’s what the manager and captain are for. Let the lad just play football.
