If we could lose our salvation, we would. From one of our Ask Ligonier events, John MacArthur invites Christians to find rest in the Savior who will never let them go.

This was so needed. Many others have deceived me into believing that I had to work for my salvation, preaching under constant condemnation. Never understanding the grace of God until now in my life. This just rejuvenates me in so many ways
Thank you.

Very good. Christ holds onto us. We bring nothing to our salvation. Great points.

Amen. Yah. So many preachers nowadays emphasize our holding onto Christ rather than the backwards. Thanks Pastor.

Makes perfect sense: "You didn't 'earn' your salvation, so you cannot lose it." Our temporal world of "earning and loss" is why we are so geared in that direction when it comes to "the gift" of salvation! Our heavenly reward with Christ is so extraordinary, we fear the loss of it because we still sin, because of the world, our flesh, and satan's nonsense!

If you are truly saved the holy spirit is in you giving you that inner peace that never goes away. That absolute assurance that he's with you forever. Your constant companion, your best Friend. I was saved April 18, 2021 just by repenting(changing my mind about wanting Jesus) and believing in him. I had never read the Bible before. I read the Bible now. Salvation is a supernatural experience that changes you forever. You will know you are saved forever. God does not want you to live in fear and doubt about this. He is the one all mighty God. Creator of everything. Loving, merciful, caring God who knows us personally and eagerly waits for us to repent and believe in him.

True, how can you be sealed with the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption then lose it. God would have to remove his spirit from you. Charles Stanley does a great sermon on this

I'm so glad my Dad taught me about Eternal Security when I was a teenager... It has saved me from untold problems in my life...
It gave me the chance to grow in grace and mature in Christ...

Thank God for this basic, necessary truth in the Scriptures...

I would be on the rocks today if I had not been taught the truth by someone who knew the Word of God...

I feel sad for the believers that think that they can lose their salvation. I once was there and I had no peace

Phillip Ian’s 1:6

I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.

I’m only 41 but in my personal backsliding experience God never left me and would not allow me to remain in that state.
After my immediate family and then my own wife disowned me because I became a “Bible thumper” I backslid terribly. Through it all God showed me how low of a creature I truly am. I was convinced of my own goodness before my trials, but the behaviors, thoughts, actions, and words that came out of me during the hardship showed me that apart from Jesus, I am a nasty selfish evil man.
I now have a new humble understanding and a deep & complete submission to Jesus my King that I don’t believe was there before.
There was a time when I was angry at God and wanted to be away from Him, but through it He never left me and is still to this day completing what He started in me all those years ago.
I used to believe other people were the sinners. But now I know that in my heart I’m the biggest sinner that needs to study the scriptures and get right with God else I die and go to Hell were I deserve.

I believe in once saved always saved. I became a Christian / born again many years ago. I did eventually backslide for a long time, and i mean severely backslide. After many disasters, one after another almost leading to the point of suicide due to sin, God over a long time slowly hauled me in somehow and has been restoring me and continues to do so.
I know im saved and although my behaviour was despicable and led to pure misery, and can i say severe chastisement from God, a lot of repenting i know im his still and always will be. So despite all i see written here i do believe God will never let one of his go completely, yes they may rebel and live in sin hitting rock bottom but God will still restore his own, not cast away.
A few here seem to be eager to prove scripturally that Christians can be lost and quote Hebrews amongst other verses, well i see none about the prodigal Son and the Fathers response to him, nor John 3. 16 and theres more to delve into. I believe scripture totally, but i also have to believe what has happened in my own life which corroborates scripture and how God didn't write me off, but gave me yet again a new beginning
