It's amazing how Paul was so unnecessary to the story, it progressed just right without him and yet he was also so necessary to the story that we miss him and wish he was alive.

I think it hurt Rudy so much because he never realized how much Paul was his father. Even though he was from another world Paul was so much like Rudy but in reality Rudy was so much like Paul and he never realized it. Even later in the LN Rudy compares his life's decisions to Paul multiple times.

Paul wasn’t a good father all the time but he realized his own faults and did his best to make up for them and in the end he did the ultimate thing a father can do and saved his son. Paul might’ve not been the best role model for Rudeus but in his final moments he showed Rudeus what it means to be good father.

It’s crazy how op swordsmanship is in MT. Even Rudeus who has a massive mana reserve, silent spell casting, spell altering, duel casting, and future sight doesn’t stand a chance against king tier swordsmen. (Unless he has a big distance and he uses a massive aoe spell that will destroy all of the surrounding which he can’t use most of the time)

It’s all thanks to his demon eye and magic armor that he even stands a chance. If only Rudeus was able to learn Touki.
