Growing Potatoes in a Potato-Grow BOX - Urban Garden Style!

If you're trying to grow lots of potatoes in a small space, this just might be a good way to do it. I'm hoping to get a yield that is comparable to 4 or 5 potato grow bags, all within a 2 foot by 3 foot area!

We've had lots of rain lately. But my potatoes are coming along nicely after 7 weeks. Of course, only time will tell. But while I wait for the fall harvest, I wanted to share my new idea for this year.

For mine last year I put 9” of mix over them and then did not have to repeatedly back fill. They take longer to surface but less work. Good ideas!

Very nice job. We have used plastic totes before and had great results. Plant some sweet potatoes also... works great too.

What is your take on adding more dirt as the plant grows and getting more potatoes. I feel this is untrue. Cant wait to see some of your spring gardening videos!

So I'm curious, why did you chose to do this planter method vs another SIP? And could you plant potatoes in a SIP?

I have been looking into pond liners for a SIP I plan to build and was surprised to see how expensive they are. Tarps (like the one you show here) are much cheaper. While the potato planter in this video isn't a SIP, do you have any knowledge of what chemical concerns there might be by not using a pond liner?
