Black girl here! Hydroquinone, Kojic acid, and sunscreen pretty much cured all my hyperpigmentation. I will add, turmeric is also great too. I’ll try arbutin and licorice root♥️

I think we need more POC dermatologists who specialise in darker skin tbh

I knew hydroquinone was necessary. I hate that people only associate hydroquinone with bleaching the skin to be lighter . There are so many people who need hydroquinone for melasma and hyperpigmentation. And then need to use it for it's intended purpose; which is to have an even complexion

As a black girlie I absolutely live for a good sunscreen and people are always so shocked when they compliment my complexion and I tell them thanks wear your sunscreen lol. They’re always like “i dIdN’t kNoW bLaCK pEoPlE NeEd sUnScReEn tOo”
Edit: I did not know this was gunna get so many people riled up 😂💀. But for yall asking the best sunscreen I’ve found of all I tried R&R sun serum by undefined beauty. It’s a mineral sunscreen, takes a while to rub in it doesn’t turn you purple.

Hydroquinone is not bad. People misuse it. It bleaches and is used topically to remove spots. Prolonged over the whole skin use is what causes problems. I had spots like her and carotone helped me. But I use it for 1 week, on the spot and drop it. Not sladder it all over and I love my chocolate so I don’t want to fade 😂😅

Thank you for not demonising hydroquinone, have used it for years without issue. As a black woman I use all the products you have listed- as well as tretinoin- have done for years and my skin is amazing and blemish free.. Hydro is the only thing that helps black women remove hyper pigmentation which is the bane of our lives

African black soap and snail musin with cocoa butter lotion is what is helping my skin. I also use an glycolic acid face wash twice a week.

Love this style of video ie we see an example of the skin issues, and then your advice. So helpful.

Will try Licorice because Tranexamic Acid helped everything *but* my hyperpigmentation. HOWEVER, Tranexamic Acid 4% to reduce my horrible vascular blue/purple under eyes 90% in 5 days, no exaggeration it was shocking. 💜 I've had them all my life! (I'm 35). Of all things to work! Probably because it clots blood. 🤷‍♀️ It was my hail Mary 🙌

It *also* helped my red veins around my nose and eyelids. 💖 Very unexpected! The one I use is super smooth + plumping. Pleasantly surprised!

That said, it hasn't helped my sunspot & I want to avoid the hydroquinone, which is what my Derm wants to put me on. Tretinoin hasn't helped, either. But the circles are everything because I've always been very subconscious about them. I looked sickly.. people notice & kids are unkind.

Product I used is a Kbeauty product: Numbuzin No. 5+ Serum. In case anyone wants to try it. Amazing texture, multiple benefits. Used nighly before my Peptides, Tret, then Moisture & Bakuchiol.

Also a nutritionist because I have same scars and it comes from having pcos so topicals may help but need to fix problems from the inside too

Please make a video on monobenzone 20% and 40% for vitiligo patients who are doing depigmentation.

They ripped Hydroquinone off the shelves @$6 to $7 and forced companies to find a replacement only for dermatologist to sell it for $65 +

I live in Atlantic Canada and got a prescription for hydroquinone. Waiting seven weeks for a call from the compounding facility. Frustrating. In the meantime I’m using Faded that I bought at Sephora. It has that hydroquinone smell and happy to report that hyperpigmentation is slowly fading.

As a black girl, I have never understood why so many black people don’t use sunscreen. ”we can’t burn” we might not become red but the sun does affect our skin badly too💀

My Derm formulated a Hydroquinone/Tretinoin cream that I use once every night 6 months on, 6 months off. Due to misuse, all of the compounds she mentioned have a bad rep.

Hydroquinone is amazing on deeper skin tones for hyperpigmentation !! It's like #1 for deeper skin tones tbh

I used hydrocortisone SPRAY for 1 week. It smoothed out skin, and inflammation. I'll probably use it 1-2x a week to maintain. Now I'm using kojic soap and apply vitamin C cream.

I relate to this a lot. I'm black and i have hyperpigmentation problems. I have the same acne scars as this lady on my chest and my back. But my face is my top insecurity. A few years ago my face got way darker than my body, and since puberty I got acne scars and big hyperpigmentated spot which take almost the entirety of each of my cheeks. Zero products worked on me. I even saw a doctor at some point, but was given a lame acne product who isn't affective, or even appropriate for regulated hyperpigmentation.
