The best line in the scene is when GEN. Patton says "Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I read your book!".

That stunt man almost died. They kept it in the movie but that was pure luck he did not die

For anyone wondering why American tanks are used by the germans in the film its because the movie was filmed in Spain and the Spanish government was allowing studios to use their military equipment in the movies so the tanks are American tanks bought by Spain and a lot of the extras are Spanish soldiers

My father was in the US Army for 17 years. He served in the Phillipines, was bombed by a relative in the IJN at Pearl Harbor ( we found that out years later ), North Africa, Sicily, D Day, across Europe with 3rd Army, Bulge, German occupation, Korea & recalled to active duty during the Cuban Missle Crisis.
He was an excellent cook, had artillery training at Ft. Lewis Washington & his first job in the Army was tending mules.
He told me he missed his mules & never forgave the Japanese for starting the war because being in Manila was the best duty he ever had.
Our ancestry is German, East Prussia, Hungary, Slovakia, Japanese.
Generals asked him to cook for them which is how he wound up in so many battles and eventually back again under Patton whom he admired and loved & he told me he was proud to serve with Patton & said he was COLD in the Bulge but he FROZE in Korea !

The shot where the tank almost crushes the running German is horrifying but stunning.

Patton and Rommel had full respect for each other. Today a photo of Rommel hangs at West Point,

I understand appreciating movies from their time period but I am so glad we have CGI. Seeing the American post war tanks representing German WWII tanks kinda took away from the scene imo. People give CGI too much shit

The acting of "soldiers" is so funny... With trampoline jumps, choreography... never forget to hold your arms a trow away your rifle when you die... 2:22 look in the middle of the screen, a soldier is hurted and hold his arms before the explosion ^^

My Dad was retired Navy O6. He use to take me to the base 15/25 cents. The opening monologue from George C Scott was a long list of words I have not heard. Loved this movie as a kid....but realized that he is portrayed as "reckless" with soldiers lives... in competition for successes or against Monty
